"Is this really a SNES game?! I've got Playstation games that look worse than this!"
-Chris T (on first seeing this game)
However, in these days of yore, games could not rely on graphics to sell games. This is because the graphics in 1995 were, well... crap. So, Chrono Trigger is an amazing game to play also. I should explain at this point, that Chrono Trigger is an RPG, and it's closest relative (apart from Chrono Cross, it's sequel) is the Final Fantasy series. This is because it was made by the same guy who made Final Fantasy; and it shows. Incidentally, the character design was by Akira Toriyama, the creater of Dragonball Z. (Aaaahhh! I hear you say)
One thing that this game improves upon from Final Fantasy (in my opinion), is that they have done away with random battles. I am currently playing Final Fantasy 6, and whenever I have to travel a long distance on the world map, I just have to scream. AAAARRRRGGHHHHH!!! No, that means about 10,000 random battles before I even get there. Chrono Trigger employs a battle system that is a cross between Final Fantasy, and Secret of Mana. You can see the enemy on the screen before you attack, but when you fight, the battle is menu based. Don't let any of this put you off, it's a really good game, you must play it. It isn't any "Dark Eldar" kinda stuff, it's actually really accessible to an ordinairy person. However, you may find difficult to buy this game, as it is after all 6 years old, and on a defunct platform. In fact you may find it easier to uhhh, download it, if you catch my drift! :-) This next statement is to stop my ass from getting busted:
Downloading game ROMs (search for: snes roms; or something like that), and keeping them for more than 24 hours, without owning the original game
cartridge, is illegal. ROMs are meant for backup purposes only. You would be commiting a CRIME, if you were to:
1. Find a SNES emulator such as ZSNES or SNES9x.
2. Download a Chrono Trigger ROM from a website (ROM sites come and go)
3. Play the game on the emulator, and have lots of fun playing the best game, ever.
I'm going to polish my halo now. So, enjoy these pages here. However, all pages that have an asterisk (*) by them, contain spoilers!

The true meaning of Chrono Trigger*
Now that you've seen those, I'm going to talk a litle about the Playstation remake of Chrono Trigger, and Chrono Trigger's sequel, Chrono Cross.
The Playstation remake is not that different to the SNES version, it had jazzed up sprites (not really polygons), and looks better. The piece du resistence
however, is the fact that the cinema scenes are now anime movies (joyyyyyyyyyy!!!) instead of the characters on the screen controlling themselves. This game
has never been released outside of Japan however, although due to tireless campaigning by Non-Japanese CT fans, Squaresoft (the company responsible for CT)
are now thinking of releasing it in other countries. Let's hope it makes it to Europe, as I am willing to buy a Playstation in order to play the game.
Yes, some of you will know that I have done this kind of thing before, when I bought a Game Boy in order to play Pokemon.
Chrono Cross is a Playstation game, and is made up entirely of polygons, a la Final Fantasy VIII. It has only just been released in America, so it will still
be a while (if ever), that it is released here in Britain. It has 40 playable characters in it, and has the best musical score of any game, ever (allegedly).
It should be a fun game to play. Unlike the Final Fantasy games, Chrono Cross is a true sequel (i.e. it follows on from Chrono Trigger's storyline), and many
of the loose ends of the first game are tied up here. However, Chrono Cross also has loose ends, so there is a possibility of a third Chrono game being released.
If there is, I'm going to donate my life savings to Square.
I hope you do try this game out, it you haven't already, as it is more fun than a barrel of monkeys. Or something.
