The Lonely Giant

by Duane R. Swenka

There is a Giant that is so alone now,
He once had two even bigger friends that helped him out.
He was the Biggest till they arrived,
But now he is the only one to survive.
Day and night, night and day,
He wishes for his friends back in the worst way.
But alas he is alone,
To be the monument to life that will not be drone.
He shows everyone that you can survive,
and even though alone, you can be happy to be alive.
The Giant I speak of is no person, or place,
But a Monument to our Countries pace.
He will stand, and show, that we are alive and well,
So be like that giant, and show you too can a tell,
A tell to the Fact that you too survived,
although you may have loved ones, and/or friends that Died.
This giant is the Empire State Building,
As he had the Twins to keep him company, and be all seeing.
This gentle giant is now the one that is the Boss,
and now we must go and be, with our lives all tossed.
We did Survive, We will again,
As We Are American!
