Poetry for
Friends and Family

A mother is a person who will be
With you forever.
Over time, distance may come
Between a mother and child,
But, if she is a friend,
It doesn’t matter at all.
A mother is a person
With a kind word, a helping hand.
She will still love you
Even when you’ve done something bad.
A mother is a person
Whose patience is enduring.
She is someone special,
Someone loving,
And I’m glad
You’re my mother.

Have you ever had a friend
Who makes you feel special?
Have you ever had someone
To lift you up when you are down?
I know someone whose energy
I unmatched by any.
He is a guy with smiling eyes
And a voice to soothe the soul.
He is someone I am proud to call friend
Because he is a special guy I know.

For Will
I see a knight from yesteryear
With a heart of gold and valor so dear.
I see a man who would fight to the death
Who lacks worldly devices and enormous wealth.
A pulsing life runs through his veins.
His horse and sword are all that remains
Of the worldly goods that have little meaning
To one who is above conscious, sinful preening.
A light shines within this fighter’s soul —
Shining brighter than the sun and makes me feel whole.
This knight from yesteryear with armor bright
That shines from within with soulful light
Will be a valuable asset when things are rough,
Just as long as he is a friend — that is enough.
