NORTHWEST TREK

Wildlife Park!!

Northwest Trek Wildlife Park is a 635 acre wildlife habitat dedicated to the flora and fauna of the Pacific Northwest. It celebrated it's 20th anniversary in July 1995. The park has welcomed more than two million visitors from around the world since it's creation in 1975 from land donated by Dr. David and Connie Hellyer. At that time, the concept of a free-roaming area to exhibit native wildlife was a radical departure from traditional zoos. Visitors enjoy a 50-minute, naturalist-guided tram tour that takes them through the free-roaming area where bison, elk, moose, and mountain goat and other large hoof stock range over 435 acres. Visitors can also stroll through Northwest Trek's core area to view woodland animals such as wolves, grizzly bears, black cougars, river otters, eagles, and other birds of prey. Cheney Discovery Center offers hands-on nature discovery activities for children and parents. The Forest Theatre features a 14-minute, multi-image presentation on the history of the area and Northwest Trek. Five miles of nature trails, including a three-quarter mile paved loop accessible to wheelchairs and strollers, allow visitors to explore many exhibits featuring Northwest animals. The Bear Exhibit offers the largest natural outdoor display of grizzly and black bears in a North American zoological facility. The Cat Country exhibit introduces visitors to three of North America's feline predators:the cougar, lynx, and bobcat.
