Driving around Jacksonville...

Spent the past couple of days driving around northern Jacksonville, and just visiting with my folks. I've been swimming in their pool when time permits, and the other day decided to weigh myself. To my amazement, I've lost 15 lbs on this trip. All my clothes are hanging somewhat loosely on me now... it's sort of nice. It would probably be the perfect time begin working out...

As a result of a particularly nasty sunburn I'd gotten while in Pensacola I am now peeling off skin in sheets. Tara said they could collect all the skin I've dropped and make another me to keep around for shits and giggles. It's like when a tarantula sheds, and it looks like there's two of them in the cage. I feel like I'm molting. How utterly appropriate.

Anyways... these are the pictures from poking around Jax. I'm writing this entry about a week after all these were taken... I have one last entry to do and then I plan on stopping anymore updates on the journal. It's been a nice project, but I think it's reached the end of its usefulness. I think I'd rather just enjoy the last week or so I'm here with my family... and try to get some other writing done.

So... here ya go... pictures of parts of Jax for you. Signing off for today...

This is Coco, my
parent's insanely laid
back Siamese. You can
vaccuum him and he
doesn't care.

A southern institution,
Krispy Kreme! They're about
everywhere now though... so...

Heading out to my sister's
place.

My sis's building.
The sad thing is that
she makes more than I
do... :P

"Are you taking my
picture?"

Out in the back...

Heading up to northern
JAX. This is the Dames Point
Bridge. It's beautiful...

This is where the St. John's
River empties into the Atlantic.
I have now officially gone from
coast to coast...

I used to come out here a lot
when I lived here. You can see
the Mayport Navy Base from here.

The water level was extremely
low there this time... so
the sandbars are immense.
It's somewhat of an overcast
day, too...

Sort of sad... it didn't
seem as pretty there as it
used to. Maybe it was me...

People routinely
drive out onto the
large stretches of beach
exposed by the outgoing
tide to fish and play...

The Ritz Carlton. I
used to do work for them
back when I lived here...

Um... a palm tree
and a fountain?

Nearby, a public
beach... and the Atlantic
Ocean.

Driving along the winding
road near the Ritz...

One of the many bridges
on the way up north...

Near the Mayport Ferry...

The Mayport Ferry... it moves
between Northern Jax and the
Jacksonville Beach areas.

Is it...
My sister?
Or Cousin It?

"You didn't just take
my picture, did you?"

Um... the brake pedal
of a later model Ford
Explorer. Thanks, Jen. ;P

Getting on the Ferry.
After loading onto it the
sky decided to open up and
pour rain for the next
couple of hours. How so very
Florida Summer...

Helicopter coming down
for a landing in Mayport...
