This page is a collection of some poems I have written. The ones up here are most likely my better &/or newer ones, and perhaps just some favorites regardless. I might also place some friends' poems up here with their permission. I plan to change this as much as possible, so keep half an eye out for it. *w*
If life is a bowl of cherries,
Then why am I stuck with a kiwi?
Love To Dust
And set upon this heart so cold,
From within the dawn's dark evil hold,
Breeds a spawn that none shall pass,
Not knight nor mage nor even lass.
For from this spawn's hellacious hand,
A darkness spreads, forever spanned,
Deathly blanket, sickly cold,
Never again to have or hold.
If Only...
If only you could know me,
And know how much I care.
If only you could see my heart,
And see the love I bear.
I wistfully long for us to be
Like Romeo and Juliet.
But I also mourn our separate lives.
It cannot be, just yet.
Dedicated to Linda Conner.
Misty Eyes
Though times may block life's view,
Such as a fog amongst the trees,
Never should it change you
From what you yet might be.
Ever shall I be here,
Present near or far.
Always one to turn to
When life becomes too hard.
For as the great bald eagle
Soars to newfound heights,
So shall you my good friend,
Once dry your misty eyes.
Dedicated to Adele Witchell
Drear Existence
The sparrows are dying,
Leaving this world,
Taking their beauty & song with them.
Like the butterfly on the wall,
The ants on the floor,
The lizard in the hall,
The moth on the door.
The sparrows are dying,
Leaving this world,
And I am dying with them.
Concern & Indifference
The message is answered,
The reply is sent:
"I can't right now,
Again in a bit?"
The message again,
The reply is not:
What makes him think
That he's being fought?
The message continues,
No reply is heard:
Is she in danger,
Or still free as a bird?
The message halted,
The reply in a day:
"Nothing is wrong...
Why do you say?"
Celestial Journies
Help, help, running around,
My true destiny yet to be found.
Life without meaning,
Love without loss,
Streaking through voids,
Bouncing across
The universe,
Alone,
Searching for a stone,
None to be found,
None to be seen,
Crashing through stars
With incredible speed,
Finding a way,
To lose it once more,
Never a window,
Never a door,
Screaming and flailing,
Throughout existence,
Then waking up
With a snort & a wince,
Finding myself not
Flying through space,
Just dreaming one day
On a house carapace.
End Of It All
If the world were in shadow...And the sun a black hole...You would still shine so bright...in the darkness of my soul.
Want
by Kelly Morrison
Why do I want what I know I can't have
Why do I torture myself this way
If only I had what I thought I deserved
What would be left to achieve
If you follow the desires of your heart
Where will you be when they're through
What truely makes one happy
Status, wealth, material possessions
All that will inevitably fade away
Why so we feel we need "stuff"
Is it because society tells us we do
Will we be failures in our own eyes
If we don't acquire what others assume we should have
If we strive to live within our means
Would we mean to get into debt
We use words like "priority" and "necessity"
To validate our childish whims
Why can't we be thankful for what we have
And not dwell on what's left to obtain
I see want as a disease without a cure
You're never satisfied and always want more
Modern Needs
November 15, 1995
It comes under the guise of Friendship
Offering Happiness,
And Peace of Mind.
Slowly the Green tightens it's grip;
Gradually Life drains away.
Soon Reality settles in:
The Green has brought only
Misery and Grief.
Few taste the Sweetness of it's Fruits.
Many learn only Greed
And Others perish rather than to be Without.
If one can resist the
Temptaion of the Green,
One can see how Useless it is-
And the Futility of any attempt to acquire more.
