Marching Band '97
A little info about Northwood High school's marching band from the '97 season. Our Band Director is Michael J. Lopp, and our Drum Majors this year were Joy Maxwell and Martha Stokes. We have a Marching Band/Pep band first semester, then Concert Band/Jazz Band the second one. This fall for our Marching band's halftime our theme was "Blockbuster Movies" or something like that...we played "Mission:Impossible", "Apollo 13", and "Forrest Gump". We went to 3 competitons and we didn't do too bad!
Listen to our feild show!!!:
Mission:Impossible-Our version's better! :)
Apollo 13-Our begining is diff except for the solo :)
Forrest Gump Suite-This one's pretty close to our's : )

Marching Band '98
This year our Band Director is Michael J. Lopp, and our Drum Majors this year were Richie Effird and Martha Stokes. This year we got new uniforms (finally!), which were MUCH appriciated! We have a Marching Band/Pep band first semester, then Concert Band/Jazz Band the second one. This fall for our Marching band's halftime our theme was "School House Rocks!" (YAY!) We played "Conjunction Junction", "Figure Eight", and "Ready or not, here we come". We went to a few competitons (I think 3) and we did way better than last year! In one competition at Burlington (The Central District North Carolina Band Festival) we recieved an excellent rating, not to mention 3rd place finish by Richie in drum major category, 3rd place finish by percussion, 3rd place finish by horn line, and 1st place in flag squad and 1st in rifle squad! We also recieved the JOHN L. HARRIS award as the band showing the most creativity and originality in Class A (one of those big things that you have to give back the next year...unless we win it again! :)) Oh, yea, one more thing; We're going to HAWAII this spring break for a competition, and to have fun.
