Golden Oldies Before me...

The People Who Made Me What I Am Today

-for better, or for worse-

The oldest picture of any ancestor of mine known to exist: My Great-Great-Grandfather, Daniel Keefe, born in Ireland, living in Jackson Township, Dubuque County, Iowa, as of 1860 census. (Listed in the Census as "Dennis O'Keif", for some strange reason.) CORRECTION/UPDATE: Would you accept a picture of Daniel Keefe's wife? Here 'tis:

Daniel Keefe's daughter, Elizabeth Norton (my Great-Grandmother), circa 1904, my grandmother, Helen Norton, is the girl on the left.

My Great-Grandparents, Thomas & Elizabeth Norton.

My Great-Grandfather, Robert McKenna (II), with his Illinois Central locomotive. He's the guy on the right, with the bushy mustache.

My Grandfather, Robert McKenna (III), with my father, Robert (IV) and my uncle Tom, circa 1932.

My Maternal Great-Grandmother, Margeurite Brown (born in Alsace, France- well, actually it was part of Germany at that time, probably the reason they emigrated to the US- in 1874 as Margeurite Rouselle), my mother, (Sarah) Nancy Brown, and Grandmother, Ann Hamilton Brown, circa 1945.

My Maternal Grandparents, Robert & Ann Brown, circa 1945.

JUST ADDED: Map of Dorr Township, McHenry County, Illinois,1870, showing the rather meager farm land owned by my Great-Great-Grandfather Thomas Norton.

My Grandfather and my Aunt Liz, at Rainbow Beach, Chicago, circa 1935.

Family picture from Lake Thompson, Rhinelander, Wisconsin, 1936

Another picture from the same time and place.
