#1 Chicago TV Newsbabe

YET ANOTHER REVISION (11 May '00) I came across a website devoted to Daljit, and stole some new pics from it. AND, I have these bits of info regarding our reigning newsbabe...Daljit was born in 1962 (I am surprised she is over 30!), is 5'2" tall (she always seemed so statuesque, I guess it was the pedestal I wanted to place her upon!), and most importantly to Chicago viewers, her newscast is now on Channel 11 everynight at 11:30pm. Of course, that means you'll have to put up with 11's insatiable begging for funds. One of the great things about having DirecTV is with their new local station feeds, you get a national PBS feed. No begging for money, and you don't have to put up with Channel 11 delaying new programming...they just did that with the new Michael Palin "Hemingway" series, which I got to see at it's regularly scheduled time. Anyway, as is my wont, I'm getting off-topic. Be sure to check out The Unofficial Daljit Dhaliwal Appreciation Page, authored by Lyle Zapato. We thank Lyle for the pictures we stole from him...in the lead one, here, she rather favors Natassja Kinski's "Cat People" look...and those of you who know me, know how much I love that look!

Wow. Last time's #5 entry charged to the head of the class to become #1, far surpassing every one else in the listings, garnering 423 hits to her page, her closest rival getting only 365. I decided to make it a pure popularity contest, ranking all in the order of number of hits to their page...methinks some kind of Daljit cult has passed around the link to the page, and that accounts for her good showing. If so, Tracy Butler, who is in fifth place now, will probably be getting all kinds of traffic from people looking for Daljit!

The funniest thing about this is I don't even know if the ITN World News is still on Channel 56, as I had satellite television installed in March of '99, and haven't tuned into Northwest Indiana's very own PBS station since then...any of you folks out there know if Daljit is still eligible for this contest? It IS "Chicagoland Newsbabes"...it was kind of a stretch to include her before, but she is so strikingly beautiful, I made an exception for her.

Here's what I said about her last time around, when she was #5:
Daljit enters our little pageant via her "ITN World News" show on Channel 56, WYIN, in beautiful downtown Merrillville, Indiana. Produced in London (England, for those of you from Calumet City), it's probably the best newscast available on Chicago TV (via antenna, that is...), mainly because they only do one "fluff" story per night, have a minimum of ad time, and don't do weather or sports, or 2-part news stories on nail polish. Suffice to say, she's a babe.
In our judging, Daljit recieved the following scores:
Brains: 8
Body: 2
Beauty: 1
Annunciation: 10
Total: 21
