Bio: It all began when I was born on my birthday. It wasn't snowing, even though it normally does in Kalamazoo in late December. I was told my mom was in labor for 4 hours, but I think she was just bragging or something like that. My mom was able to bring me over to my Grandma's by Christmas
After the whole birth thing was over and done with for about a year and a half, out came another, my brother Jock (Trust me, we look nothing alike) Jock has and always will be one of my best friends because, you'll see further on, I have few other friends.
I grew up in a small house on the other side of the Kalamazoo river from where my parents currently live. Our babysitter was our next door neighbor, our friends were the kids on our block, I had the typical Leave it To Beaver childhood, well.. except the Beav wasn't around cause we killed him in a freak biking accident.
In 1984, my parents bought a new van to take on our trip to Florida that Summer. I wouldn't make too big a deal out of this particular van if it didn't later become the coolest vehicle on this planet; it is now mine, the Puck-mobile. Anyway, we went on the trip that summer and visited all the neat places on the way: Mammoth Cave, Wet & Wild, Sea World, and lets not forget Disney World!
Since the trip to Florida, I didn't get the chance to travel very much which is a real shame, because I was only 6 at the time and I love seeing the country. We moved a couple years after the trip to the house where my parents are still living in right now. A new elementary school, and new neighborhood I had to make a whole new set of friends, and failed at doing so. [feeling sorry for me yet? =)]
From the move to the end of my Freshman year, I just kept to myself. Then that summer between my Freshman and Sophomore year in High School my brother turned me onto computers and being online. We only had a 2400 at the time, and all that was around was local message boards, but it was my first time I ever got online. Later that summer a new "multi-line" was revealed to me, and then I got addicted.
I chatted with many people over the computer that summer and into the school year. It was amazing, being how shy I was in person I didn't have the slightest problem with opening up and saying "hi" to a complete stranger over the computer. It wasn't until I got my license that I was able to meet the faces on the other side of the screen because I didn't have any friends that were older than me.
The years went by, Week of Freedoms when my parents left for vacation, a couple summer jobs working for the same company every year. During school I participated on the golf team and when the school finally re-instated the wrestling team, I joined it also. Not to brag, I earned my Varsity letter 4-5 times, a couple medals in wrestling (from the really easy tournaments) and even made a couple acquantices. I still couldn't wait to get out of the school, even though I enjoyed wrestling so much. Then it finally came, the big Graduation.
I never ever really had a big fellowship with the people in my class, because I always had kept to myself during school, and those I did talk to were in the Class of '97 (I being the class of '96). So I was finally glad that I didn't have to ever see any of them ever again if I didn't choose to. But something happened that day. I don't know what or why, but for some reason a lot of my class mates actually became people in my eyes. Oh well, I prolly won't see any of them again in another couple years.
After high school was finally over and done with I had to think of something to do to avoid paying rent to my parents for living at home. I decided to go onto college, because my parents had agreed that I could live at home for free as long as I was going to school. Well, being the mooch with no life that I was, I saved up my money from working at apartment complexes in the summer to attend KVCC, the community college in Kalamazoo. All throughout the time I was at KVCC, I always figured that I would venture up north and transfer to Michigan Tech University.
During my two years at Valley (KVCC) a few things actually happened. During the first year, I spent the year chatting w/ a little group of people and keeping up a nice little grade point of 3.5. Of course the big event happened during the second year, when I was put under a spell by this woman to the left and right (shhhh... I think they may be twins). This beautiful woman happened to run into me during our Organic Chemistry class. As I go by Puck, she has chosen to go by Libzie and I love her no matter what I end up calling her. Soon after I was enchanted, I was introduced to her cute 2 year old daughter from a previous "relationship", who after over a year had given me the title of "Daddy Puck". Libzie has shown me more strength than I've ever seen in another person, and I'm very happy being with her.
My attendance at KVCC ended and leaving my new family behind, I ventured up to Houghton, Michigan. My stay at Michigan Tech I came away with mixed feelings about. On the downside, I was a nine hour drive from my family (parents and Libzie/child). On the upside though, I was able to take some trips home in the Puck-mobile at least until it started giving me winter related troubles. I really didn't do so hot scholastically while I was up there, it was either due to the fact that somewhere along the line I had become a lot dumber, or I just was distracted by the distance between myself and my loved ones. Whichever the case, I came away from MTU with a few addictions. To name a few: fantasy football, strong sugar cravings, and a very high obsession with WCW pro wrestling. I will always remember sitting in my dorm room watching the '98 Vikings destroy the NFL, what a year!
Dejected, defeated, and not to mention a horrible GPA, your faithful hero returned to his hometown with a new plan. No longer was school an issue anymore, Puck started as a full fledged groundsman in May 1999.
On October 17th, 1999 I dropped down to one knee and proposed to that beautiful woman, Libzie. We exchanged our vows on September 23, 2000 in a wonderful ceremony. So now all the ladies are safe, because the Puck-man has a ring on his finger. The early years of our marriage I would call pretty typical. There weren't too many rocking moments.
The major development in this point of my life (1999-2001) would be the growth of my fantasy football league. I assembled a group of relatives and close friends to participate in a dynasty/keeper league. Although not everyone is as dedicated to the league as myself, we have a growing number that are understanding the game a lot more every year. One day I have the vision of having my family and friends facing off in a competative league that everyong can be proud to be a part of.
Then in May of 2002, the world changed. My son, Biscuit was born. I had been a dad for a good 3-4 years before this, but nothing could really prepare me for taking care of an infant. His arrival has changed some of our plans, like Libzie finishing up her graduate program, and being able to buy a house. The house hunting was put on hold because of our finances with Libzie out of work taking care of Biscuit during his infancy. Also in 2002, I changed positions at the apartment complex. In an attempt to earn more money with on-call earnings, Puck can now fix things as he has been trained as a maintenance personel and passed his HVAC A/C certification.
I dedicate this site to Grapejam an extinct website that motivated me to create a site of my own.
