Prince William's Eighteenth Birthday
Prince William's
Eighteenth Birthday.

"As he turns 18 this week, the king-in-waiting with the fairy-tale looks shoulders his real-world burdens. The Queen wants William to rescue the monarchy. The tabloids want him to stir up scandal. Society girls just want his number. But what does William want?"

On June 21, 1999 - only 2 days after the wedding of Prince Edward to Sophie Rhys-Jones - Prince William turned 17 years old. As a result of so much media attention already surrounding the royal wedding, William's birthday was much more low key than his sweet sixteenth. However, he did manage to become the proud owner of his first car! A Volkswagen Golf GT, courtesy of his father.

Newspapers, magazines, websites, and television journals used the event to feature stories on anything from Prince William's many admirers worldwide, to the approaching anniversary of Princess Diana's death. Check out a couple of print articles here (each carefully compiled by yours truly).
