I spent the majority of my teen years (13-18 years old) in the Kingston/Woodstock area in the Catskill mountains in upper state New York. Most people equate New York with the city, but I actually did not spend much time in New York city when I was young. The area of New York where I grew up was predominated by farms, woods and mountains. Growing up around Woodstock in the 1970s, everybody pretty much looked like me; long hair and laid back. Little did I realize life as I knew it was about to come to an end.
