Some Trivia About Me


Vital Stats and Other Stuff


  • I stand slightly under 6 feet tall. I weigh about 175 pounds. Brown hair, brown eyes, typical light skinned Puerto Rican.
  • Twice Divorced, two boys still living with me; Kenny Jr, 18 and Edward, 15.
  • I play guitar, harmonica, a little piano, used to play in bands. Have recorded several of my own songs on my own.
  • I write short stories, poetry, and music for a hobby. I enjoy symbolic logic and building robots.
  • I own two cars and take the bus to work (go figure).
  • I have a dislocated left shoulder which occasionally pops out of the socket (ouch) but I put it back in myself.
  • I smoke like a chimney, drink like a fish, sit on my ass for a living and never excercise (but I never felt better in my life).
  • I will semi-retire in about two years and then travel around the globe for a bit.

  • What I Watch on TV: Sports or Documentaries, an occasional movie.
  • Turn Offs: Violence, abusive people, snotty people, stinky people, people who are critical of others.

    Some Cool Things I Have Done


  • I Used to Drag Race Cars at the Hollywood Speedway
  • I won the MVP in my first pop warner playoff game for playing QB, WR, RB, on offense and safety on defense.
  • I Played Semi Professional Football (as a safety) and got paid $24 a game.
  • When I was a teen, we used to hitch hike to New York City and go to Greenwich Village to see Dylan, Chic Corea, etc.
  • I implemented three-way calling, and call-waiting for a German telephone company.
  • I invented the first Ethernet to T/1 load sharing (as opposed to spanning tree) bridge and then implemented it.
  • I wrote the communications software used in the security system used by IBM, GM, Ford, Bank of America, et all.
  • I taught myself basic circuit design and designed and implemented an IEEE 1284 bi directional switch.
  • I have deployed voice browsers (too cool) for our website.
  • I was involved in building a small company (3 million annual sales) up and then taking them public.
  • I raised a baby racooon until he was about 4 months old. I also had a pet ferret.
  • I coached my sons baseball, basketball, and bowling teams.
  • I was a disc jockey, wrote for the school newspaper, and worked as a broadcaster for the school closed circuit TV station while in college.
  • I have recorded my own album of my own music. I have also published (yes I even bound the covers myself) my own short story.
  • I have dove off 80 foot high cliffs (it looks a lot higher when your up there).



    Brief Timeline of My Life


  • Born Kenneth Paradise, 1959, San Juan Puerto Rico (13th child)
    Puerto Rican Mother Carmen Paradise (don't know maiden name), Italian Father Duke Paradise
  • Adopted by Edwin F. and Germaine Beaudry Smith, Hyde Park New York in 1960.
  • Father leaves in 1965 (I was 6) mother dies in 1969 (I was almost 10). I enter the state foster care system (yuk).
  • I run away to Woodstock NY about 1972 (like 13 years old by now). End up basically living on the streets.
  • Takes GED and enters Ulster County Community College as a Liberal Arts Social Sciences major in 1976.
  • Moves to south Florida after completing 2 year AA (associate of arts) degree with a 3.89 GPA.
  • About 6 months later I move to Cary North Carolina for about a year.
  • Back to south Florida I start college but have a child so must get a job. Eventually end up at IBM in Boca Raton FL.
  • Raise my family (by now 2 boys) and buy my first house in Boca Raton Florida.
  • I become the Vice President of Marketing for a computer comapny at the ripe old age of 30 years old. Eventually take them public.
  • After 11 years of marriage, I discover my first wife is sleeping with a friend of mine who was living with me. I divorce the wench.
  • I move to an apartment on Hallandale Beach overlooking the ocean, and begin reconstructing my life.
  • Within 6 months I am married again, this time to a beautiful gal from Malaga Spain, by way of Cuba.
  • After raising my wife's 2 boys for about 6 years, my 2 decide to move in with me. My wife promptly moves out.
  • I move to Lilburn (near Stone Mountain) Georgia and work for AMI (the BIOS ROM guys) in Norcross Georgia. My wife comes along.
  • I switch jobs, this time going to a start-up called Convergence Corporation. One of 10 employees, we are later bought by Amazon.com.
  • After a year in Georgia, I am relocated to Bellevue Washington where I reside to this day (less my wife).
