BELL, CAROLINE A. b. Circa 1821 d. March 3, 1839  18 years. Believed to be Caroline Ann (Davis) Bell, daughter of Ulysses B. Davis and (name unknown)Vasser. If this is the correct individual, she is mentioned frequently in the will of Lemuel Vasser (d. 1828), an early resident of Dallas County 



COWAN, MARY b. 1799/1800 died December 16, 1846 in the 47th year of her age. Believed to be Mary "Polly" Moor, daughter of James and Nancy Moor. Sister of Lewis Moor John Moor, and Rev. William Moor(e) Married James G. Cowan.

MARY E. DUDLEY  b.1821 d. 1906. Daughter of John "Jack" Dudley and Julia Ann Reese. Married Lewis Moor on April 2, 1840. Six children: James Lewis Moor, Sallie H. Moor, Mary Elizabeth Moor Julia Dudley Moor Anna Moor and Lula Moor. Widowed in 1854, she took over the management of the family plantation

LEWIS, JULIA MOOR  b.September 18, 1885 d. January 6, 1970--"Miss Julia"-- Daughter of Henry Dudley Lewis II and Lula Moor Sister of Henry Dudley Lewis (III) and Frank James Lewis Grandaughter of Lewis Moor and Mary E. Dudley Well-known local historian, Miss Julia was a driving force behind the preservation of the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church and adjacent cemetery. 



LEWIS, LULA MOOR  b.June 23,1854  d. September 13,1920. Daughter of Lewis Moor and Mary E. Dudley Sister of James Lewis Moor, Sallie H. Moor, Mary Elizabeth MoorJulia Dudley Moor and Anna Moor Second wife of Henry Dudley Lewis (II). Mother of Henry Dudley Lewis Julia Moor Lewis and Frank James Lewis Lula Moor Lewis was born only eighteen days after the death of her father. 

MCKINNON, ANNA MOOR (I) b.March 12,1847 d. August 28, 1878. Daughter of Lewis Moor and Mary E. Dudley. Sister of James Lewis Moor, Sallie H. Moor, Mary Elizabeth Moor Julia Dudley Moor and Lula Moor. Married John A. McKinnon on Oct 15, 1868--ceremony performed by Rev. W.H. Meredith. Buried next to her daughter and namesake, Anna Moor McKinnon



MCKINNON ANNA MOOR (II) b.July 19, 1877 d.October 11,1878. Child of John A. and Anna Moor McKinnon. Daughter of John A. and Anna Moor McKinnon. Grandaughter of Lewis Moor and Mary E. Dudley

PHILIP MILHOUS b. April 23,1804 d.March 31, 1857 (buried at Adam's Grove Presbyterian Church cemetery). Son of Daniel Milhous and Frances Givhan. A prominent planter, Philip Milhous, was the husband of Frances Rebecca Vasser and the brother of Mrs. Sarah Caroline Vasser. Eliza  was his second wife. Philip Milhous was an early member of  the Presbyterian Church at Pleasant Hill and contributed funds to the construction of the building. Frances Rebecca Vasser and Philip Milhous were married by Rev. William Moor(e) on May 11, 1825. 

 At least three of Philip and Eliza R. Milhous' children ( Anna Maria George Heywood and an unnamed infant daughter) are buried in the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Sister of James Lewis Moor, Sallie H. Moor, Mary Elizabeth MoorAnna Moor and Lula Moor. First wife of Henry Dudley Lewis (II)

Instrumental in the building of the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church. Prominent planter in the Dallas/Lowndes Co. area. Husband of Mary E. Dudley. Brother of John Moor, Mary "Polly" Moor Cowan and Rev. William Moore Father of James Lewis Moor, Sallie H. Moor, Mary Elizabeth Moor Julia Dudley Moor Anna Moor and Lula Moor Died eighteen days before the birth of his last child. 



MOOR, MARY ANNA  b.1885  d.1891. Daughter of Flora Vasser and James L. Moor. Daughter of Flora Aurelia Vasser Moor and James Lewis Moor. Only child of the James Lewis Moor family to die in Alabama. Grandaughter of Lewis Moor and Mary E. Dudley  Grandaughter of L.B. Vasser and Emma Eliza James


MOORE, REV. WILLIAM  d.Novermber 4,1831 40 yrs., 6mos, 4days. Early Presbyterian minster in Dallas Co. Originally from Tennessee. Came to Dallas Co. with his family before 1820. Married Dorothea Brooks Rutherford on January 29, 1825. Two children: Emily, born January 10, 1828, and  William James, born April 1, 1830. Brother of John Moor, Mary "Polly" Moor Cowan and Lewis Moor His will, dated 22 October 1831 and probated January 1832, was witnessed by Dr. John E. Vasser

His wife Dorothea later married his cousin, John Needham Smith, and is buried in Hayneville City Cemetery in Lowndes Co. William Moor's son, William James, is also buried in Hayneville City Cemetery. His daughter, Emily, married Alabama Chief Justice George W. Stone and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Montgomery.


UNDERWOOD, JOHN H 1st Corp., Co. B., 3 Ala. Cav., CSA. b. February 10, 1842, died after 1900. Son of Green Underwood and Mrs. C.A.B. Underwood.  Married Mary E. Moor on November 16, 1865. Father of S. Green Underwood and Lewis Moor Underwood. Lived with his mother-in-law, Mary E. Dudley after the death of his wife. John H. Underwood was a farmer in Benton-Collirene area.
