I listened to John Denver's music when I was in high school in the early 70's. I'd listen to his soft sweet voice as I drifted off to sleep. "Take Me Home Country Roads" was his first hit. Followed by "Rocky Mountain High", "Anne's Song" and many others along with 14 gold albums, 8 platinum albums. His starred in the movie "Oh God" with George Burns. He made several TV specials and other appearances in movies. But he also gained recognition as an environmentalist. His plane crashed on Sunday in Monterey Bay, Monterey, California. He was 53.
