"They say 'What kinda music you got?'
I got music the way I am, my man.
How you see me is how my music is."
--Mr. Cheeks of the Lost Boys
That quote above pretty much sums up my tastes of music. Those who meet
me and get to know me immediately know what kinda music I'm into.
Like Nice and Smooth said, I'm a "Hip Hop Junkie". I will be groovin
off of hip-hop beats until the day that I die.
I do dip into other kinds of music as well. I can flow with
some R&B and dancehall reggae. And yes, get this, I can even
vibe with some classical. That's right...big up to Beethoven,
Mozart, and Chopin :)
Below are some of the artists that I listen to, and some of my
favorite songs by them.
Busta Rhymes
This is my mofo right here. I was flowing off
of his rhymes since
the days of Leaders of the New School.
Remember "Case of the PTA"?
Yall ain't up with the old school...
Favorite Songs:
- Woohah, Got You All in Check
- Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See
- Everything Remains Raw
- Fire It Up
Missy Elliot
I give mad props to Missy. A talented female hip-hop artist
that doesn't have to be naked in videos to sell records.
Her skillz speak loud and clear.
Favorite Songs:
- Get Ur Freak On
- Why You All In My Grill
- Hot Boys
- The Rain
- Hit Em Wit Da Hee
A Tribe Called Quest
I know they haven't been much of a "tribe" lately, with all the solo projects and stuff, but I think the music they make together outweighs the individual efforts.
Favorite Songs:
- Breathe and Stop (Q-Tip)
- Check the Rhime
- Once Again
- Buggin Out
KRS ONE
I don't care what ANYONE says. The BlastMaster will always reign
supreme. He said it best himself... "We will be here FOREVER!".
Favorite Songs:
- Step Into A World
- My Philosophy (BDP)
- Why is That? (BDP)
- Build Ya Skillz
- MCs Act Like They Don't Know
Beenie Man
Like I said, I love dancehall reggae too. Half the time, I have no idea what's being said, but I like the rhythm and how the words flow :)
Favorite Songs:
- Romie
- Who Am I
- Girls Dem Sugar (the original release, not that garbage with Mya)
- Healing
