Biography:
Hello, my name is Eric Elder. I am a single guy who was born in Toronto and moved shortly after to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. After High School I went to Laurentian University in Sudbury where
I graduated with a BA Honours in Geography. I was fortunate to have a group University project ("Human Impact on an Aeolian Environment, Carter Bay, Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada") published in the The Great Lakes Geographer (vol. 6,no. 1-2). I have travelled in Canada, U.S., and Europe.
If you have not already been able to figure out, I am interested in naval and military history. I do not like war,
I enjoy learning about the history, technology, and personal struggles surrounding the events. I am fairly computer literate, and have enjoyed
using my computer. I graduated in May 1999 with a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technologist diploma from Algonquin College, in Ottawa, Ontario. Then in August 1999 I landed a Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD) mapping job in Golden, Colorado (in Metro Denver) mapping a 16,000 mile new fiber optic network system (Level3) in the US. I then moved into the GIS group and enjoyed the position. I decided the time was right to move on because the project was winding down, and I landed a position with Bass-Trigon/American Innovations IMD as the only GIS Technologist for the office in December 2001. On July 1, 2008 (Canada Day) I was laid off with 3 other people. I was fortunate to land another job quickly at Structural Integrity Associates. I am currently the only GIS Technologist. To start out with I am digitizing nuclear power plant piping to view in a 3D environment.

Who would have guessed I would start collecting naval warship postcards?
