Download Internet Logger 2

Welcome to Internet Logger Hints and Tips!

ADDED NOTE: I've been getting a few questions about the master password recently. To clarify things: You set the master password on the first time you log in. Just follow the instructions on that dialog! You can always change it later from the Preferences.

Ok. First of all: You want to use this program as a replacement for the stupid old dial-up dialog!
I suggest you do what i did. Make a link to Internet Logger anywhere you want (recommended on the desktop!), and change it's icon to the following one: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Rnaapp.exe. Now rename the link's title from Logger to your connection profile name (probably your ISP's), as in mine - Save-Net.
If you want, you can also disable all access to the old dial-up dialog by following these steps (recommended for advanced users):

Remove any link to the DUN folder, such as the link in accessories.
You can disable access to the DUN folder from "My Computer" by these steps: Run RegEdit, search for "Dial-up Networking", on the first find, go to the key "InProcServer32", and in the (default) change the value from "rnaui.dll" to "". Thats it!
It would be a good idea to remove the check from "connect to the internet as needed" in Internet Properties. You can also disable access to the Internet Properties, but this is more complicated and dangerous too.

Ok, let's put security aside for now, and focus on Internet Logger's features.
If you have problem connecting, you can check the status window to see what's happening. Most of the text in the status window comes from your system, so if you are an international user, it will also be in your language.

Don't worry about power outage or anything like that. Internet Logger will automatically update the log the next time you use it to the correct time you left the internet at.

When you set dates to see in the usage graph, if you want it to show until today, set tomorrow's date in the "To" field.

Cost Management:

Use the Minimum Call Cost field to set the minimum charge for a cost. Find out how much you pay, if you connected and exited immediately - This is the answer for this field.
You can set limits for individual users. Use the Individual User Settings as an allowance for each user.
If you leave the Maximum Time/Cost Allowed fields with a "0" value, it means it's disabled for that user.

If you feel insecure about what is written to the log and when, you can leave the "Show Changes to the Log" field checked, but it may become annoying in time, and you can always disable it.
Use the Time Limits, if there are certain times when you don't want anyone to access the internet. You can ALWAYS enter Internet Logger with your Master Password, so don't give it to other users.
On the Time Limits screen, it's best to write down the numbers yourself, because the slider is not very accurate.

Thank you very much for trying my program! If you have any other questions, problems, bugs and anything else, just E-mail me and i'll try my best to help.

Yours, Jonathan Adamit.
