Welcome welcome! To let you get a feel of the area that I live in, I made this page for Charlottesville's local bands. As you can see I have their banner up leading to their sites. Every one of these bands are str8 outta the Charlottesville, VA area except for Jazz Poets Society (they're from Richmond, VA) but they deserve to be added since they started out not to far from here. Some of these bands you may know because they're real big and others are just starting out. But I've only seen not even half these bands so I don't know if all of them sound any good in the first place. Anyway, check them out and let me know if you've heard of any of them.
