Although we once inhabited most of North America, now distribution occurs in only parts of the U.S.A. Human fear of not getting to know our type and outright hatred of our kind by those already mated with another, and those with dreaded dieases have decreased our already declining population drastically and eradicated it from 50% of its former range.
