Ok here goes. Hes gone and made a setup to suit his needs which is primarily for night and day photography of wild life. Hes made up a frensal lens which goes over the flash to increase flash distance and it also gives an increased smaller f/stop to use. We all need that. He also has mounted an Xenon flash light for night use.

I see hes also got a decent recharable battery mounted as well.  This setup must keep you fit and strong Jerry. Early test shots at up to 50-60 feet have been successful. Wow. Amazing Jerry. Very clever man.

Macro flash by Danny Young
National PE-3057 with fibre optic cable
Sunpak ring flash with variable output
The only chance you will get of having one of these is to get one secondhand. The ring is screwed into the filter thread which also holds the fibre optic cable. The fibre optic cable automatically shuts the flash off. The f/stop is set from the camera. 3 auto/ f/stops are available. We use f/11 for most things. Of course we need to use the flash slave as well. The unit comes with a swivel for tilting the flash unit down. It also comes with 5 stepup or down rings.
This is my favorite and it works really well. Not sure if they still make these or not. The variable output is great for getting just the right amount of light. I also love the small amount of shadows this thing gives off. Some people dont like it for that reason, but we do. I think it gives a much more natural light for macro. But thats just me. To each their own. It also works for distances up to 18 feet with the CD-1000. Again we close the f stop down to f/11 mostly.
Ok, the model is named Bertie. Very well behaved and does not cost much to feed and never complains. Even when he takes a bath, he just sits on the btm and holds his breath. Probably should teach him how to float oneday.
Thanks and all the best from Danny
