Ambitions

Remembering how her mother dressed,
She pulls on a pleated skirt and oxford shirt.
Remembering how her mother sang,
She hums a sweet melody.
Remembering how her mother looked,
She pinned up her hair and applied her lipstick.
Remembering how her mother danced,
She twirled about as she got ready.
Remembering how her mother cooked,
She scrambles the eggs and fries the bacon.
Remembering how her mother read to her,
She scans the front page aloud.
Remembering her mother,
She has become.
