Chapter One

At two in the afternoon, Jess slipped her credit card back into her wallet and took her bag. “Excuse me, miss.” A voice spoke. Jess stopped short and looked up to a tall man with blond hair. Soon, she realized who it was.

            “Yes.” She answered.

“Can you help me out please? I am trying to find the perfect dress for my sister who is younger than you. May I ask a huge favor and ask you to try on dresses so I can pick the right one for her?”

She smiled at the familiar face. “Sure.. No problem. But how can I help you with sizes?”

“Oh, that’s easy.. I have my mother to call.” He chuckled. “I haven’t the slightest idea what she would like.”

“Have you picked anything out yet?”

“Nope. By the way, I’m Nick.” He reached out with his hand to shake hers.

“I know.” She chuckled at his confused face. “I am a fan, but not nuts. I’m Jessie. It's nice to meet you.”

            “Ditto.” He was somewhat relieved.

“Relax Nick. Let’s go look for dresses.” She offered her hand to him and his hand slid into hers comfortably. His bodyguard took her packages from her and she thanked him. Nick led her to a fancy dress area of Lord and Taylor’s. “Now what kind of dress are we looking for?”

“Somewhat fancy.” He said. “We have an awards show tonight. Mandy and I broke up, for good this time. I don’t have a date to it.” He said, looking glumly.

“I’m sorry Nick. Well, here what about this?” Jess began to pick out beautiful dresses. Finally, with two armloads of dresses, they made it to the now empty dressing rooms. Bodyguards placed all around it, the two entered. Jess went into the dressing room and shut the door as Nick took a seat on a couch outside the room. Jess thanked god that she had had to wear a strapless bra today because of work, most of the dresses were strapless or had skinny straps.

“So what do you think about the new song?” Nick inquired as Jess changed.

“Love it, it's a new sound for you guys. It’s awesome except that I miss AJ’s cackles.” She joked, laughing slightly and began to hum. Jess was putting on this gorgeous skinny strap black dress with constellations on it in silver. There was one slit in the front of the dress. She couldn’t get the zipper, so she breathed in and not thinking twice, she said. “Nick I can't get the zipper, can you do it for me please?” She opened the door, finding him on his feet.

“Wow.” He breathed, looking over her in the dress. “Turn around.” She did as he said and he reached for the zipper, noticing his hands were shaking. He gently zippered the dress, at the same time he was smelled her perfume that intoxicated his nose. When he was done, he took her butterfly clip out of her hair and her hair snaked down her back.  ‘Now, that is a dress that fits her well’, he thought. Her body’s curves showed as the material on the dress fit her. Nick turned her around so she could see herself in the dress and left his hands on her shoulders. “It’s beautiful, you’re beautiful.” He said as their eyes met in the mirror. Her mouth broke into a smile, her eyes began to twinkle and she didn’t speak for a while.

“Thank you.” She whispered as Nick’s arms put themselves around her waist.

“Instead of BJ going with me, how about I buy you this dress and take you.” Nick asked.

Jess turned around. “You weren’t really looking for her, were you?”

“Noo.. I was. I seriously was. Here even look.” Nick took out a yellow post-it to show her his mother’s handwriting that said, ‘Find a dress for BJ.’ “This is my mom’s writing.”

“I’m sorry Nick. I couldn’t. Do you KNOW how much this dress costs?” Jess asked, showing him the price tag.

“It doesn’t matter. It would be a present to you, for dealing with me for a night.” Nick said, his blue eyes gazing through her own ocean colored eyes. “Please??” Nick asked, giving her his puppy face, knowing no one could resist the Carter face.

“Awww.. Alright but on four circumstances.” Jess said, and he began to grin. She spoke again before he could talk. “Number One, don’t let my cave from the face get to your ego. Number two I get to go home a shower before we leave. Number three, stop looking so hot, god I can barely breathe looking at you now. And four, it wouldn’t be that I have to deal with you. It's because I want to be with you. Deal?”

“Deal. But you smell fine.” Nick said, blushing a little.

“Thanks. Buts it's not that, I don’t know what to do with my hair.”

“I can take care of that.” Nick whipped out his cell phone and put a finger up to her lips to silence her. During the conversation, they were staring at each other. “Hey, mom. I’m not taking BJ tonight. Yes, I know. Mom, I found this great girl to bring. She’s already got the dress. Of course, I was looking for a dress for Beej. I had her try on dresses and got the great idea to bring her. All right, but I need a favor. Her hair, makeup and anything else she wants. Thanks mom. I’ll see ya in a half hour. Love you too, bye mom.” Nick finally hung up. “Anything else you need?” Nick asked.

“uh.. Shoes? Necklace, purse.. earrings..” Jess began to ramble on when Nick couldn’t take it anymore, so he kissed her. She wanted to fight it, but allowed herself to drown in his lips.

“Sweet.” He muttered when they broke away from the breathless kiss.

“Ditto.” She giggled.

“Go change and we’ll go look for shoes. Ok?” Nick said, hugging her and began to leave.

“Wait.. zipper.” She said shyly.

“Oops..” Nick chuckled and un-zippered the dress, and lightly kissed her back and neck.

“Nick.. let me change..” Jess silently moaned out of pleasure. He grinned and she turned in his arms. They kissed once more and he left the section out to the bodyguards. As she changed back into her own clothes, she heard him on the phone.

“I need a star necklace and star earrings. I also need another pair of moon earrings. All silver please. Yeah, she has two holes in each ear. In 45 minutes please. Thank you.” Then he called another person. “Pete.. yea I need your thoughts. The girl’s dress is amazing. Unhuh.. Constellations.. if I bring the dress, can you get shoes and a pocketbook for her and see what you can do for clothes for me? Pete.. it's tonight. I know.. but I just found the perfect dress, the perfect girl.. I have someone working on getting jewelry. As we speak.. I gotta get her to my mom’s soon. Peace.” Jess by now was done.

She called for Nick, who came running in. Seconds later, the two returned with handful of dresses. Nick took the dress from her that he would be purchasing as Jess and Q put the dresses back. As he was paying for the dress, he could her Jess bugging Q to give her her purchases but Q wasn’t going to allow her to carry it when he could.

“Jess.. He isn’t going to give it to you. Come here.” He chuckled and saw her sprint to him. He handed her the dress as the cashier handed him the receipt.

“Thanks Nick.” She said, gazing into his wonderful blue eyes.

“No problem.” He kissed her cheek and her arm linked with his. “We have to go now. We have to bring the dress to a friend of mine so he can get you shoes and a pocketbook and decide what he’s doing to my wardrobe. Then, I’m dropping you off with my mom.. You’ll get your hair, nails and whatever else done.” Jess nodded and walked with Nick out of the store to the awaiting limo, the bodyguards walking behind them.
