Chapter 7
(Brian and Jess in car)
“Please, Brian tell me where we are going!” Jess exclaimed, she
couldn’t see Brian had blindfolded her.
“Nope, sorry baby. You’ll find out soon enough.”
Jess sighed in defeat. She felt Brian’s hand settle on her leg.
“Brian, I can sense your eyes on me, pay attention to the street!”
“Oops, sorry.” He laughed.
Two
minutes later, she felt the car stop. “Brian?”
“Hold on. I’ll be at your door in a sec.” His door slammed shut. A
second later, her door opened and she could feel the breeze come in.
“Brian?”
“Yup. Let me unbuckle you.” He kissed her cheek and popped the
buckle.
“Thanks Bri.”
“No prob.” He took her hand in his and helped her out of the car.
“Be careful of your head, Jess. Put your head down step out. There you go.”
She smiled and said, “I feel like a little kid being told what to
do.”
He
kissed her and said, “Don’t you trust me?”
“Of
course I trust you, I just feel helpless.” She squeezed his hand.
“Stand
here for a minute. I gotta pick something up.” His hand left hers and he
picked up a picnic basket. A second later his hand was back. “Ready?”
“Of
course.”
“Let’s
go.” He led her and said, “Now you have to step up.” She did. “Good.
Onward.” He led her onto the grass and near the trees. She could feel his
hands shaking and sweating, she didn’t know what to think about it. “Stay
here.” She stood still while he put the blanket down on the grass and he took
out the food. When he was done, he went over to her and kissed her cheek. Then
he kissed her neck on both sides. Brian placed his arms around her and continued
to kiss her all over. Jess slightly moaned, loud enough for only him to hear. He
took her hand and kissed it. Then he picked her up in his arms and walked over
to the blanket and placed her on it. He sat in front of her and said, “Jess, I
love you.”
She
smiled and said, “I love you too, Brian.”
Brian
smiled and took off the blindfold. “Now you can look.”
Jess
took one look and gasped. “I know where we are!” She exclaimed. “It is
where we first met. When Nick came to visit CJ after a tour. I love it! Oh,
look. Dinner. Yummy.” She threw her arms around Brian and kissed him
passionately. “Just like you.” and she grinned.
“You
are right, Jess. We met because Nick made it a surprise visit and you took CJ to
the beach that day. I remember her face when she saw Nick. I was glad Nick
dragged me with him to see CJ. Our eyes met and we just clicked. I have been so
grateful for your idea for Nick to surprise her.” She smiled and remembered
that day.
“You
were the cutest guy I had ever seen, you still are. I love you so much.”
“I
love you too, Jess. I have loved you since that day we met. I knew you were the
one. You are the one. Jess, you are the most beautiful woman in the whole world
and the most important person in my life. You complete me, who I am, what I do
and everything. These past two years have been the best in my life. I need you
to live, Jess. The one thing I am missing is a wife. Jessica, will you marry
me?” Her eyes sparkled as he asked her, making him more self-conscious that
she would say yes. He took out a box from his jacket pocket and held it in front
of her.
She
smiled and smiled and couldn’t help but smile. Tears were forming in her eyes
and she had temporarily lost the use of her voice. Finally, her voice came back,
“Yes, Brian. I will.”
“This
is great!” He said. He took the ring out and took her hand into his. “I love
you, Jess.” He slipped the ring on her finger and got up off of his knees and
took her in his arms. They kissed for a few minutes and then they finally broke
apart.
“I
love you too, Brian. I love the ring, too. Thank you so much, sweetie. You are
my life too. These past two years have been in heaven, cloud 9, whatever you
want to call it. You made it all possible.” As she said that she never looked
at the ring, but into his eyes.
This
made him feel even better that she loved him and not the Backstreet Boy. He knew
their relationship would be very good in marriage. “Shall we eat now?”
“Sure.
What did my fiancé prepare for us?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“CJ?” Nick said as he entered the room.
“Ug.” She responded.
“Guess what.”
“Wha?”
“Brian called.”
“Wahoo.” She sarcastically replied.
“Well, him and Jess are going out tonight.”
“Unhuh..”
“And..”
“Unhuh.”
“You wanna know or not?”
“Go ahead. Sorry if you woke me up!” she said.
“Oh, I'm sorry. But guess where Brian’s gonna take her.”
“Dinner?”
“Duuuh. But where?”
“Um. The hospital cafeteria?”
“NO!! To the beach where we surprised you that day when Jess took you
to the beach and Brian came with me to surprise you.”
“Ok. I remember. What’s so special about that?”
“Well, he said that was when he first fell in love with Jess.”
“I’m listening..”
“He said he was going to propose to her tonight.”
“Unhuh.. WAIT! PROPOSE?”
“Yea, like would you marry me?” She opened her eyes and looked at
him. “CJ, I'm not proposing. Well, if you want me to.”
“Only propose to the woman you want to marry and live the rest of your
life with.”
“Like you.”
“What?”
“Nothing.”
“Nick.” She whined.
“Fine. I said I would marry you. I just wanted to take it slow before
proposing.” He looked embarrassed.
“Nick. Don’t be embarrassed. I would marry you too. Whenever you want
to propose is fine. You are the only guy for me. I’ll always be here.”
“Really?”
“Yes, Nick. I was foolish to go out with those losers.” He smiled and
kissed her.
