Chapter Two
“Oh, AJ!” Jess screamed.
“Yo.”
“This is the place. Up at the eternal flame! That is
great scenery.” Jess whispered.
“Ok, Jess. Get your friends and I’ll get the other four
to get out.” AJ said. The bus stopped and AJ went toward the back of the bus
to get the other three, Brian, Nick and Kevin. Jess went to get Mel, Christine,
Ali and Janice. AJ walked to the front with everyone following and they picked
up Howie.
They headed up the slight hill and Jess exclaimed, “OMG!!
We are stepping on people’s graves!”
Everyone laughed at that as Jess pulled the hood over her
head on her Hershey sweatshirt she had bought. It was still raining, as they got
closer to the monument. The group asked the tour guide to get a picture of them
with many cameras. The group posed after introducing themselves, mostly the
girls, the guys were well known. AJ put his arms around Jess and stood behind
her. He stuck his head on her right shoulder for the picture and the group put
themselves into position. After many flashes, the pictures were taken. Mel told
AJ and Jess to stay in the position they were in and they did. Neither wanted
him to take his arms away from her.

“Jess, this man is the one. (no pun intended) Look into
his eyes and see your future, allow yourself to love him. I love you and want
you to move on.” Her mother said with tears in her eyes as she watched her
only daughter remain in the arms of her future husband. Jess shivered again and
smiled. She knew her mother could always remain with her, through memories and
she didn’t want anyone else to know.

Jess stared out the window. AJ was about to leave her life
forever, but what was it that her mother had said. This man was the one. Love
him.. This must be my destiny, AJ McLean. Her thoughts were interrupted by his
voice.
“Jess?” AJ asked. He gently lifted her chin and turned
her face to meet his. “I would really like to see you again.”
Her face lit up. “Me?” she asked. “Why me. I mean you
have tens and thousands of fans that want to be with you. Who would die to be
with you. Millions of fans waiting to meet you and a simple home girl like me?
No you want someone who likes to party, although I do. But don’t you want
someone who you can always be with, a girl who is OUT of college, not just going
to BEGIN college? You want someone more experienced than me..” She was about
to continue when AJ’s lips were placed on hers. Her first kiss, perfect. She
hadn’t had much luck with boyfriends. So AJ’s kiss was her first. A sweet
senior, 17 years old was kissing THE AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys.
They broke away and they both blushed. “Yes, you. You are
the girl I am talking to. I want to know the simple girl, a fan and a great
person. Let me see the CD cover.” She got it out for him and he took a pen and
wrote in it. “My beeper and cell
phone numbers are in the note I wrote.” He handed it to her. “Can I have
your phone number?” He asked and she nodded, still amazed by the kiss. He took
out a piece of paper and a pen. She jotted down some numbers and also gave him
her address and cell number. “New Jersey, huh?” He asked as he looked at the
address.
“Yea. We.. um.. we are on a band trip.. for a band
festival. Which we did fantastic for.” She answered.
“Oh, that’s great. I don’t have to think twice about
the suggestions I gave to the judge.” He said.
It took her a moment and then reacted. “What? Wait…
you… Br.. you were there?” She stuttered.
He laughed, “Yea.”
“OMG!” she said, laughing. “I will call you tonight
if I can or tomorrow.”
“You’ll miss me THAT much?” AJ joked.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I miss the guy who gave me my
first kiss?” She whispered.
“You.. That was your first kiss?” He asked.
She blushed and looked down, “Yea.” She said shyly.
“Awwww. I’m sorry, Jess. I didn’t know.” AJ
started.
“No.. It's ok. I have wanted that to happen. It didn’t
have to be you.. but I'm glad it was.”
”I’m glad I kissed you.” AJ said shyly. “I’ll get
the guys to autograph stuff for you. Like the pictures of all of us.”
Jess looked down again. “What’s going to happen between
us?”
“I don’t know but I don’t want our relationship to
end when I step off this bus… Jess. Would you be my girlfriend?”
“I.. AJ.. Isn’t this kinda quick?”
“Yea, I know it is but I don’t want to lose you.” He
took her hands in his and looked into her beautiful blue eyes.
“Alright AJ, I’ll be your girlfriend.” AJ smiled and
hugged her, never wanting to let go.
“Fantastic.” He muttered as they hugged. The bus
stopped and the boys had to get off. “I’ll talk to you later. Miss you
already.” He gave her a quick yet passionate kiss.
“Bye AJ.” Were her last words to him as he got up and left the bus.
