Chapter Four
“So do you play any other instruments, Juliet?” Brian asked as the group ate their food.
“Unhuh.” She said, swallowing her last bite, she put her finger up to her mouth, as if saying one minute. The guys waited as she swallowed. “Oboe, Saxophone, Clarinet, and Percussion. I hate brass but I know how to play them.”
“Interesting. What is your major in college?” Kevin asked.
“Music.” Juliet answered, munching on a fry she had stolen from Nick.
“My fry.” Nick pouted.
“Thanks Nicky.” She joked, she kissed his cheek. AJ was holding her camera and took a picture of her kissing Nick’s cheek.
“You going to be a music teacher?” AJ asked.
“I’m looking to be.. I have a good reputation so far.” She giggled and twirled her Claddaugh ring that her grandfather had given her as she graduated her middle school that was on her finger. The ring had two hands and in the middle was a heart. The ring is a symbol for the Irish, if the ring is upside down the woman is not taken but if it is the right way the woman is taken. Juliet’s was upside down, she had no boyfriend.
Brian noticed this and said, “By your ring I can judge you don’t have a boyfriend.”
“You’re right, Brian.” Juliet said, looking down at the ring she twirled on her finger and she grew quiet. Before anyone could say anything she looked back up, a fake smile on. “I don’t have a boyfriend.”
“Why not?” Nick asked.
“I don’t know, Nick. I don’t know.” Juliet said. “Well, what about you guys?”
“Single.” Brian and AJ said together. They gave each other evil looks as Juliet looked bewildered as they gave each other harsh looks. Juliet grabbed the camera and took a picture of that.
“I’m single.” Nick yawned.
“Married.” Kevin said.
“Ah, yes. I meant to say congratulations. I’m sorry. Congratulations.” Juliet said.
“Thank you.” Kevin answered.
“I’m taken.” Howie said. Juliet nodded, letting everything sink in. She bit into her cheeseburger as the rest did. It was quiet as everyone ate until Nick sneezed.
“EWWWWWWWW. NICK!” Juliet screeched as he sneezed on her. “Yuck.. All over me!” AJ took another picture of Juliet reacting to Nick’s sneeze.
“Sorry.” Nick looked shyly.
“It’s alright but it's not an everyday thing to be sneezed on by a Backstreet Boy.” She whispered. “Gimme a fry.” Nick let her take one. “Wait did you sneeze on this too? Yuck.” She threw the fry back. The rest of the guys began to laugh. “Men!” She said and threw up her hands.
“What was that missy?” AJ joked. “Women are worse.”
“Oh, do you want to get started?” Juliet began.
“Oh, do I.” AJ said.
“Guys.. we don’t want to be recognized..” Kevin’s voice reasoned. AJ and Juliet shut up.
“Let’s go to the park. So I can interview you guys and have less of a chance to be recognized.” Juliet suggested. All the guys agreed so they left McDonalds.

“Let me bring you guys to my favorite spot here.” Juliet said as they climbed out of the limo. Juliet led the group to a cliff and she sat down, holding her shivering arms. It was so beautiful near the beach. She always came here to think over things.
Nick’s voice broke her trance. “Are you cold?” She looked up and nodded. “Here. Take my jacket.” He offered her his jacket.
“No. I couldn’t. Thanks anyway Nicky.” She turned her head back to the view and Nick put his jacket around her, leaving his arms around her. Brian, although jealous, grabbed his camera and took a picture of it. Juliet turned her head, looking into Nick’s eyes. “Thank you.” She said.
“No problem.” He smiled and kissed her cheek. The rest of the guys sat down around them. Juliet took out her tape recorder. Q had her camera so she could have some pictures.
She hit record on the recorder and breathed in. “This is Juliet Peterson with the best Boy Band, the famous Backstreet Boys. How is the tour going?” She asked.
Kevin answered that. “It went fabulous. All our fans who could afford or get tickets made everything possible. Right now we are doing concerts for Howie’s charity for his sister.”
“It’s a great rush to see venues packed for our show.” Nick added.
“How do you react to all the signs that say ‘I love you Nick’ ‘Thank Heaven for Kevin’ and many other ones?” Juliet asked.
“We just smile and smile. It is so nice to see that people actually like us.” Brian said.
“Like isn’t the word.” Juliet muttered.
“You are right in a sense. We get underwear thrown at us, we get phone numbers, letters and many other things thrown at us. One day we got a life size poster of a girl. It’s insane. We smile and put more into our performance.” AJ said.
“I know I asked this at lunch already but who is dating or married or single?” She asked.
“Married.” Kevin answered.
“Single.” AJ said.
“Single but heartbroken.” Brian said.
“Single and looking!” Nick said. All the guys laughed at how he got so excited.
“Taken.” Howie said.
“Wow. Three of you guys are left for grabs, huh?” Juliet joked.
“So are you.” AJ said and winked. Everyone laughed. Q had gotten a picture of AJ winking at Juliet.
“I just got hit on by a Backstreet Boy!!!” Juliet joked. “I don’t want to pry too much but how was the wedding, Kevin?”
“It was beautiful!” Brian exclaimed.
“Everything went perfect. It was a great and special day. Here’s a picture of me and Kristin.” He took his wallet out.
“Wow. You guys look perfect together. She is very beautiful. You look so handsome.” She gushed. “Is this a picture of the place you held it?”
“Yes. Isn’t the view gorgeous?” Kevin asked.
“Yes. It is. Wow and I thought were we are now was beautiful.” She sighed. “Alright next question, I have heard you guys are making a new CD.”
“Yes we are.” Howie answered.
“Great. That is great. I’ll be the first to buy it!” Juliet said. “That is coming out in October, right?”
“Yes, October 10, I believe.” AJ said.
Juliet was about to speak when Nick’s jacket started ringing. “Geez, I didn’t know jackets could start ringing.” She teased Nick as he shoved his hands into the pockets, searching for the phone. When he realized it was in the inside pockets he instinctively put his hand inside, not even thinking that it was a girl wearing the jacket. “NICK!” She screamed, laughing hysterically. “I’ll get it, just take your hand out of it!” Q was taking pictures like crazy. Nick blushed and took his hand out. She smiled and got the phone out. She handed the phone to him and kissed his cheek. “Your adorable when you blush.” She whispered. She hit the stop button on her tape recorder.
“Thank you.” He said, turning redder. He answered his phone. “Do we have to do it now? Fine. We’ll be there as soon as we finish this interview. Bye.” He hung up the phone, thinking.
“Who was it?” Kevin’s voice interrupted his thoughts.
“It was our manager. We need to be at the auditions for the girl for a song.” He answered. “And I was thinking.. Juliet should try out.” He looked at the girl who was sitting next to him.
