Chapter
4:
“I
will remember you.. Will you remember me.. Don’t let your life pass you by..
Weep not for the memories.” Lillian sang. Justin, (AN: my friend who is a girl
is named Justin, so in this story, it's a girl.) Lily’s best friend came over
to practice for a gig they had that night.
“Remember
the good times that we had? I let them slip away…” Justin sang, her voice
purely sensational. The girls were practicing in the guest room as AJ got ready
and the others were downstairs. Everyone could hear them practicing. “I wanna
be the one.” Justin looked at Lily as they entered the chorus for the second
time.
“I
will remember you…” Lily remembered the first gig they had. It was a coffee
house for their high school. Lillian’s grandparents had passed away that year,
so she dedicated this song to them.
“I’m
so tired but I just can't sleep. Standin’ on the edge of something much too
deep. It’s funny how we feel so much but we cannot say a word. We are
screaming inside, but we can't be heard.” Lillian remembered her grandparents,
and soon her eyes were filling with tears. She still missed them and dedicated
this song to them each time they sang. Together, the women joined voices again
for the chorus and Lily continued with the next verse. “I’m so afraid to
love you, but more afraid to lose. Clinging to the past that doesn’t let me
choose. Once there was darkness, deep and endless night. You gave me everything
you had.”
Justin
came in with, “Oh you gave me light.” Soon, the two were slowing the song
down, never missing a beat together, and finally concluding the song at a stand
still. There was a knock on the door and the girls breathed in.

“Wow.
Hey ya’ll.” Lily started as they gathered on stage at the club.
“Wuz
up Orlando?” Justin asked, getting a huge response.
“I
guess their good, Jus.”
“Yeah
I guess so. Shall we start?”
“Let’s.
Can we open with IWRY?” Lil asked sitting on the stool.
“Of
course. Whoever is new, I’m Justin.”
“And
I am Lillian. Or Lily. Whatever.” She giggled. “Here is our first song, it's
a slow one. So grab your guy, mine’s right there.” She pointed AJ out.
“Here we go.” Lillian closed her eyes, holding onto the mic infront of her,
balancing her foot on a ledge on the bottom of the stool. She began to sing the
chorus, the first time, alone. “I will remember you.. Will you remember me..
Don’t let your life pass you by.. Weep not for the memories.” She opened her
eyes, looking toward Justin, who in turn and on beat came in with her part.
“Remember
the good times that we had? I let them slip away from us when things got bad.
How clearly I first saw you smilin’ in the sun. Wanna feel your warmth upon
me, I wanna be the one.” The girls glanced at each other, their eyes dancing
as they did what they loved, singing.
“I
will remember you.. Will you remember me.. Don’t let your life pass you by..
Weep not for the memories.” They sang together.
““I’m
so tired but I just can't sleep. Standin’ on the edge of something much too
deep. It’s funny how we feel so much but we cannot say a word. We are
screaming inside, but we can't be heard.” Lily sang, her eyes closed for most
of it, the other times they were searching the club.
“I
will remember you.. Will you remember me.. Don’t let your life pass you by..
Weep not for the memories.”
“I’m
so afraid to love you, but more afraid to lose. Clinging to the past that
doesn’t let me choose. Once there was darkness, deep and endless night. You
gave me everything you had.” Her eyes were also closed when she started this
verse, but soon opened to look at Justin and allow her to take over.
“Oh
you gave me light.”
Just
like they practiced, they did the chorus twice, slowing the lyrics together,
harmonizing perfectly. “Weep not for the memories.” Lillian sang into the
mic, once again with her eyes shut. Justin sat back, as Lillian held the note
out and finally ended the song. Screams and whistles and many other things
occurred as Lillian closed her mouth to move away from the mic. She took off her
glasses, wiping any tears that had escaped her eyes. “Sorry I get a little
misty from this song. That is a special song to me, it’s dedicated to my
grandparents who are in heaven.” She spoke.
“I
love you girl,” Justin said, taking her in a quick hug. “Can we pick things
up?” She asked Lillian.
“I
don’t see why not. What are we gonna do tonight?”
“How
about my gurl, Leann Rhymes and then get into our songs?”
“Sounds
like a deal, Jus.” Background music was heard.
“Under
the lovers sky, wanna be with you..” Justin started.

“Wow,
Justin. That was incredible. I don’t think we were that good since the coffee
house at PHS.”
“I
know, girl. That felt so great.” Lily hugged Justin. “Merry Christmas,
Justin. Here is your present.”
“Already,
girl?”
“Yup.
I went shopping early because Alex here sneaks.” She tickled her fiancé.
“Thank
you and congrats again, to both of you.” Justin hugged Lillan once again and
turned to leave. “I’ll see you in a week.”
“Of
course, Justin.” The door closed, leaving the couple alone.
