The end of February
and what a day to go exploring |
An
almost unbelievable warm up recently provided the perfect opportunity to
get out and enjoy the great outdoors. And there's no better place
to go than the Chequamegon National forest. The roads were in
pretty good shape, hardly any snow and very little mud. This
will all change in a couple of weeks with the coming of spring.
Standing outside
|
my
truck I remember cutting firewood here and the work
it involved. Although it was good to have it all put up before deer
season. Walking down an old fire road about 3/4 of a mile,
I came to one of my favorite places. Walking slow and quiet you can
expect to see deer, squirrels, eagles and even
an occasional bear. I also like to carry the canoe in here, just
to paddle around a little bit. This pond isn't real big but it's
fun to watch the beavers up close. I would have liked to see the
deer that made those tracks, during last deer season. The north
woods of Wisconsin are a wonderful place to go camping. In the coming
weeks I'll have pictures of my first camping trip of the season.
