I am researching the Medley Family of Craig County, Va. Our family homeplace is in Giles Co, just over the Mountain from Craig Co. My grandfather James Edward Medley was born in Craig Co. Married Rosa Affie Marie Epling there. They had 4 children there, then moved across the mountain, bought some land at Kire in Giles Co. had 4 more kids and built a nice big house and died there. His father was John Richard Medley who married Sarah Electra Saunders about 1869. They had 3 children, I think. Bennet Medley, James Edward and a girl, Mary or MJ. They were divorced about 1879. Sarah (Leck-nickname) remarried Oscar Sarver about the same time, and went on to have 7 more children with him. I dont think she took her kids with her because I saw in the 1880 census the kids were listed as living with a Bennett Carr in Craig Co. My Father was James Moffitt Medley born to James E. Medley 10/10/1905 and died 9/25/1992. I found that John Richard Medley was supposed to be from Pulaski Co but I can't find the records,, he was 20 when he married Sarah in Craig Co. and I cant find anything about where he went after the divorce. All help is appreciated.
