Fallen Angel

the haunting stare
You see every night
That empty look in her eyes
When you hold her tight

Her body so much like marble
Smooth and cold to touch
Her hands limp and unmoving
Cheeks that never flush

Lips that never return your kiss
Laughter you will never hear
A smile you will never see
And yet you hold her dear

You want so much to love her
You want her to let you close
You try so hard to make her see
That for her there is hope

But she cannot feel anything
You love she cannot take
She lives an eternal nightmare
From which she cannot escape

For her life holds no meaning
Love is pale and shallow
Your touch cannot warm her
She is numbed and hollow

But though you know your love is vain
You will hold her forever
You will love your fallen angel
you will be empty together
