So, what's in Gran Turismo 2, eh?
Well, first off, the first game was said to use around 75% of the Playstation's power, and this game uses most of, if not all, the remaining 25%.Every aspect of the game has been tweaked and improved.
What else?
Around 400 new cars now grace the stage, with models such as new versions of existing cars and even a Mini car are now included. Other car manufacturers include Mercedes (well, at least that what it looks like from the piccies). It's no longer just racing car models as well, there are all sorts of car types, including production, racing, rally and GT type cars.
And?
More tracks abound. Here, there are rally and checkpoint-based courses that will satisfy all kinds of racer gamers. Enough to test the new cars to their limits, no doubt.
Yeah, yeah, but what about a release date?
There is no firm details of a release date, but expect it to come out around late Spring/early summer for Japan and around August everywhere else.
Any more proof?

It seems that people on the 'Net keep asking questions on GT2. I urge you to check out the Gran Turismo 2 FAQ as compiled by Hondakid86.
As for the release date, the latest is that it'll be released in Japan on the 11th December, the US on 27th December and Europe "sometime in February 2000". My opinion is that you MAY see a Japanese copy this side of Christmas but any other copies will probably be delayed till next year.
1/12/99
Despite Sony sticking to the December 7th release date in the US, retailers in the US and UK are pulling GT2 from their release schedules and are quoting the release date as "sometime next year". Electronic Boutique's latest is "Feb 2000". Check out http://psx.ign.com/news/12569.html for more details.

The release for Gran Turismo 2 worldwide has been delayed possibly by a few weeks. Apparently, the coding is only being done right now, and before Polyphony can create a "Gold" master CD to press copies from, it must be submitted to Sony's QA department. Because GT2 is a huge game, the coding check could take a month.
03/11/99
The release date for Gran Turismo 2 in Japan is November 25th and December 10th for the US and Europe.
