'It was like King Midas, as I was told, everything that he touched turned to gold' as said by RUN DMC in one of their most famous songs... The same household fairy tale that inspired RUN DMC's lyrics, about a king named Midas who had the golden touch, is the same common fable that inspired the entire concept and theme of this record label. The founder and president, Rob R. Scott, had a dream once about a DJ scratching on a record turntable and the whole record turned to solid gold. Upon waking up from the dream he immediately began drawing the vision of a DJ's hand and finger touching a record and turntable with sparks representing the golden touch. He took this rough draft to a logo designer who created what you see branded on T-shirts, flyers and album covers today. However, before this logo was used for the record label it was simply used as a cover insert for underground mix tapes, back in the days when Rob used to go by the name of DJ MIDAS. Advancing from underground mix tapes, Midas began producing tracks for his friend Kool Daddy who is a rapper. The logo was then used for a production label which he called Midas Touch Productions. The concept behind the production label was that when people came to Midas for a beat they were asking for the golden touch in hopes that their record would go gold. After producing numerous hits for other labels and various artists, Midas decided it was time to take the next step... MIDAS TOUCH ENTERTAINMENT Inc., the record label. 'We goin' for da gold baby!'
But that was '97 and now for 2002 were doing something new! Midas Partnered with the company Vice President Brian "Blanco" Gegarian to take "entertainment" to the next level beyond just music...Now Team Midas is making feature films featuring its music, of course, for the soundtrack...(check out our 2 new releases on the home page, "AFRO-CAT" and "Never Look Back")
