Angel Poetry and Quotes

"Angels"

Angels come from up above,
To show us God's eternal love.
They keep each of us safe from harm.
They surround us with their loving arms.
They will calm each of our fears.
Have you ever thought you heard,
An angels soft and gentle word?
Angels come from up above,

"Angel Friends"

Some people doubt that each of us
Have angels to protect us,
Assigned by God when we were born,
To love us and direct us.
And though we cannot see them,
They're always at our side,
Companions while we're living,
And after we have died.

God knew we needed someone
To watch us night and day,
To guide us down the narrow path
And keep all harm away.
Someone of endless wisdom,
Whom He could always trust,
To guard us every minute,
And take good care of us.

So carefully He chose each one,
For every living soul,
Some with wings of silver,
And some with wings of gold,
But all filled with a burning love
That never has an end,
And each of us is blessed to have
A Special Angel Friend.

Guardian Angels

"Everyone, no matter how humble he may be, has angels to watch over him. They are heavenly pure and splendid, and yet they have been given us to keep us company on our way."

-Pope Pius XII

From Longfellow

Silently one by one, in the infinite meadows of heaven
Blossomed the lovely stars, the forget-me-nots of angels.

Henry Wadwsorth Longfellow

"Abou Ben Adhem"

Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!)
Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,
And saw, within the moonlight in his room,
Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom,
An angel writing in a book of gold--
Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,
And to the presence in the room he said,
"What writest thou?"--The vision rais'd its head,
And with a look made of all sweet accord,
Answer'd, "The names of those who love the Lord."
"And is mine out?" said Abou. "Nay, not so,"
Replied the angel. Abou spoke more low,
But cheerly still; and said, "I pray thee, then,
Write me as one that loves his fellow men."
The angel wrote, and vanish'd. The next night
It came again with a great wakening light,
And show'd the names whom love of God had blest,
And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest.
