Dictator

Watching movies,
With a friend of mine,
Full of predictable,
Unnecessary lines,
She makes a comment,
On how perfect they are,
I give a smile,
Those never matter.

I reminisce to,
To the day we met,
The first impressions,
The few words said,
Remember thinking,
'Simple jerk',
I could picture it,
Picture it now.

Going back to,
New York again,
Looking at the pool hall,
And at you again,
Our conversations,
And the fight that was,
Really seemed like,
No big loss.

I reminisce to,
To the day we saw,
Something better,
Than we did before,
Remember thinking,
'It's just for the summer',
I could picture it,
Picture it now.

Walking into,
That Starbucks that's new,
Ordering the same drink,
As I did with you,
Who would have figured,
Soon after that day,
Things would change,
We would step away.

I reminisce to,
To the place we sat,
Your concentration on,
What you were looking at,
Remember thinking,
'I could get used to this',
I could picture it,
Picture it now.

Seeing faces,
That I haven't for a while,
To a different guy,
I was handing my smile,
Had no idea,
I had come so close,
To losing you with,
The things I chose.

I reminisce to,
To the empty drink,
You really did try,
But what did I think?
Remember thinking,
'What the hell did I do?'
I could picture it,
Picture it now.

I look at pictures,
Of you and I,
Now that the summer,
Again passed by,
Together thanks to,
Perfect timing,
I tend to picture,
Picture you smiling.

I reminisce to,
To taking back,
Accepting me with,
All the things I lack,
Rememeber thinking,
'I must have really lucked out',
Don't need to picture it,
Picture it now.
