My family has always supported the Port Adelaide Football Club. When I was much younger I never really understood football. To me, it was a strange game where a bunch of guys kick a weird ball, and people eat footy franks (remember those weird sausages you used to beg Mum to buy just so you could get the stickers of SANFL players?) The only things I can remember from football back then was looking up at the television whenever I heard a cheer from the crowd, because someone kicked a goal.
The only person who does not support Port Adelaide in our family is my cousin. He is, or was a Glenelg supporter, and he supports the Adelaide Crows in the Australian Football League (AFL). When I was younger I never really followed football, so since I felt sorry for my cousin I used to say that I liked Glenelg. Well, you couldn't really call it supporting because I never knew much about football!
Cheer, cheer the black and the white
Honour the Magpies day and by night
Lift that loyal banner high
Shake down the thunder from the sky
Whether the odds be great or be small
We'll come out and win overall
While our players keep on fighting
Onward to VICTORY!
GO THE MAGGIES!
