BARBIE.....

The Vinyl Goddess.... her legend lives on...
Hello Everyone! My name is Debbie Martin and.......... Welcome to "The Vinyl Goddess" home page. I am so happy that you have come to visit! This page is devoted to Vintage Barbie, her friends, and family. Barbie has been in my life and a good part of it. She has graced us with her presents for 37 years and will probablly do so until the end of time... Barbie has brought joy and fun filled hours for many of us in our lifetime, and to date has continued to do so! For children as well as us adults, she has captured our hearts, fullfilled many dreams and put thousands of smiles on all of our faces all over the world. I have put together a sales list, please visit often, for it will be edited sometimes daily. I have also included a short story about my mother, she was NOT the typical June Clever as I grew up...how about yours?? New Gal on the block: GENE, by Mel Odom, for Ashton Drake. This doll is a winner in any book. She has grace and elegance, and yes, she is also a member of my household, I couldn't resist! Her clothing and accessories are splendid. She is well worth the investment and the pleasure to one's heart. Feel free to e-mail me with questions, comments or to just chat! Thanks so much for dropping in, enjoy my short tribute and my sales list! As always.....Debbie
Do you have a 50's MOM??? A quick tribute to my mother, for Mothers' Day and who will be celebrating her 88th birthday this July. My mom, Martha, is your typical 1950’s mom. She had her white gloves on if she left the house for any given reason. She wore her apron while cooking or cleaning and, nail polish no matter what she was doing, from painting to gardening, this was always a final femine touch. Television was new to us then and it took all of her to get our glued eyes from it. She would tempt us with a games of baseball, badminton or jump rope. It usually worked. And yes, she wore her house dress for all these activities! Can you imagine??!! There are 6 of us kids in the family, I being the youngest, and the most willing child to go and play! My mom was not one for change, she still had a wringer washer and no hot water! This was the 50’s mind you! All these items were in just about every house in America, but my mom was the last hold out. She even kept the pot bellied stove going until the mid 60’s, and finally gave into a gas heater!! Seems like the dark ages to me, and to most of you who read this! This is my 50’s mom!! But we were taught love and respect. This was more important than any luxury item we had or didn’t have. My mom ruled with a loving iron hand, it paid off. Because we teach our children the same values today. And in todays society if is so hard to get and give respect from anyone, even your own children.. I just wanted to say thank you for all you did for us, and went without for us.

Happy Birthday Mom, I love you....have a great year, you’ve given us so many wonderful ones!

Your loving daughter, Debbie

To all of you, thanks for this time and letting me share this with you, have a great summer!
