One of the many authors in the fantasy genre.
David Eddings' books appeal to me because of the humour and characterisation of the various individuals in the book. Moreover, the idea of magic really working is, well, quite interesting indeed.
My favourite character comes from the Belgariad and Mallorean series. She's the daughter of Belgarath (who is one of the sorcerers) and she's called Polgara. She's the one who's always calm, and ready with an answer of some sort all the time. What's more, everyone listens to her.
David Eddings was born in 1931 in Spokane, Washington and has written several series of books: The Belgariad, The Mallorean, The Elenium and the Tamuli series. He has also written two prequels to The Belgariad: Polgara the Sorceress and Belgarath the Sorcerer.
