Crime Fiction.
I chanced upon an Ian Rankin book in 1998 as I was rummaging in a second-hand book shop. Well, I was kind of bored and looking around desperately for something new to read. I had never tried crime fiction before so I decided to well, take a leap and see if I'd take to the genre.
Well, it's been more than 6 months and I'm really glad I picked the book up. The thing that really interests me about Rankin is that his characters, especially the main character, John Rebus, are such complex characters who are struggling to find anything positive in life. Even with their human weaknesses they somehow realise that the world cannot be all bad, and that there is somehow redemption somewhere.
Ian Rankin was born in the Kingdom of Fife in 1960 and now lives in Edinburgh. He is a past winner of the prestigious Chandler-Fulbright Award.
Other books by Ian Rankin include: "Knots and Crosses", "Hide and Seek", "Strip Jack" and "Black and Blue".
