In my opinion, the 1966 Shelby COBRA was the best car ever made. Besides it's performance, I think it looks awesome!! I read somewhere that the Dodge Viper was modeled after this car. In a recent race, the Viper was able to beat the Cobra by a few milliseconds. I think that's pretty amazing considering the fact that this car was originally built over 30 years ago.
Dean and I are planning to build this car sometime in the future (a very, very long time from now!). :o) Dean is presently rebuilding his dad's '68 GTO, but that's a whole different story. Anyway, I've posted a few pictures I took at the Hot Rod show in Castro Valley, CA last July 24, 1997. I took almost a whole role of film while Dean talked to the owner, Mr. Joel Heinke. He was very nice and answered all our questions. His Cobra was and still is the Best kit car I've ever seen.
BTW, on September 13-14, the Northern California
Kit Car Club (NCKCC) will host it's annual Bash-By-the-Bay held
at the San Leandro Marina. Kit cars, replicas, street rods, and many others
will be shown to the public. Thanks to Mr. Heinke, Dean and I (and my camera)
will be there!

Mr. Joel Heinke is the tall man standing to the left of the car in the first picture below.
The picture below was taken by my friend, Brian at the Pleasanton Hot Rod show last August 23, 1997. Check out Brian's Classic Cars to see more pix of hot rods, tbuckets, etc. :o) Thanx Brian!!!
These pictures
were taken at the Bash-By-the-Bay on
September 13, 1997. I know the pictures are old now, but I figured
some of you guys might still want to see it. I would imagine that
the car pictured below is extra special to the owner.
And in this picture you will find out why.
Below is picture of a Cobra much like Mr. Joel Heinke's.
Except this particular car has about ten times more chrome
than the average Cobra. The owner had the left rear tire up on a
block. S/he placed a regular full length wall mirror on the ground
under the car so people could see the amount of chrome used. I wish
I was able to get a shot of the reflection! You've gotta admit, It
still looks great!
Check out the fan blades!!!!
The annual Hot Rod Show in Castro Valley, CA is back every Thursday
night in July! Hopefully there will be more Cobras this year.
You can bet on my trusty camera and I ---- we will definitely be there!!
