About Jamaica
Jamaica AKA "Jam Dung" AKA "YAWD" AKA "The Rock" (for some) is my Island in the sun. Don't expect a detailed thingy on how long the Island is or the population density or crap like that cuz if you do you can GO BUY A BOOK... but if you just want a perspective (my perspective) then read on.
What's really cool about Jamaica is that we almost have a national every thing. We have a national beer
Red Stripe Beer
contrary to popular beleif it's not Heineken
we have a national flower which is called lignum vitae that means "wood of life" (sounds deep huh?).
We have 7 national heroes ( we call em that because they played important roles in our country's history.
Our national motto is "Out of many one people" which means that out of many different ethnic backgrounds or religions we are still one unit. (now there's love right there baby). I beleive that if other first world countries would adopt this ideal there would not be so many hate crimes going on in the world and we would then tackle the more pressing concerns (like sex in the new millenium). Our national motto is seen on the bottom of our coat of arms
We party alot here. We have carnivals and festivals to commemorate a whole lotta stuff which i can't bother to list out at this point (maybe when i'm updating the site). we have a national dish (yes beleive it) it's ackee and salt fish (i don't eat it though because I don't eat ackee and i don't eat fish) but every one that does says it's great and the tourists love it.
We drive on the left side of the road (just another one of the things we "inherited" from England) I feel i have to point this out because i've seen what happens when tourists seem to forget this minor detail.
