Craft Idea's

Valentine Bunny

Supplies:
  1. Baby Food Jars
  2. Cotton Balls
  3. Construction Paper
  4. Glue
  5. Scissors
  6. Picture of Child (optional)
Fill baby jars with cotton balls. Cut out 1 large heart which is just a little taller and wider than the front of the jar.
Cut out a med. size heart which is a about 1" larger than the base of the jar. Cut out 2 small hearts (about the size of a penny or dime). Glue large heart to the face of the jar so that the top of the heart extends beyond the top of the jar (gives the appearance of ears). Glue med. heart to the base of the jar so that the top of the heart extends beyond the front of the jar (top of heart sticking out from the base will look like feet). Glue small hearts on the sides of the jar in the middle (looks like hands).
Glue a cotton ball to the back of the jar (looks like a cotton tail). **Have the kids draw the face on the large heart before gluing.

Valentines Boxes

We used a 2 liter pop bottle and took the label off and cut a hole in the side, a pretty large hole for the cards to fit into then we took a 6" foam or styrofoam ball and put it on the spout of the bottle for the head of a bee. We used white foam and decorated it with sparkles for the wings and attached those behind the head then used pipe cleaners for antenna and googley eys. Then we painted it black and yellow and it was so cute when we were done. Jenny

Shakers

Use this craft for a music event, decorate with hearts and lace for Valentine's Day

  1. Take out a cardboard bathroom tissue tube, or cut a paper towel tube in half.
  2. Help your child staple one end of the tube closed.
  3. Pour in some dried beans, lentils, popcorn, macaroni, or rice, until the tube is one/third to one/half full. (Reminder: These can be choking hazards for children under three. Use caution!)
  4. Help your child staple the other end shut. Seal both ends with tape.
  5. Let her decorate the stapled tube any way she likes.
  6. You can make several tubes and fill each with a different material. When they're all done, have your child shake them each in turn. How do they sound different?
  7. Put on some music and shake, shake, shake!

Valentine Gift Idea's

Helpful Hint on Gifts- (Pay attention, this is important!) Unless you are getting a ring, DO NOT put anything in a ring sized box! This has caused uncounted arguments and hurt feelings. For some people, a ring sized box = "Will you marry me?"

Hey Good Lookin! What You got Cookin!

Cake in a Mug

What a great idea for ANY holiday gift... very inexpensive and so cute too! A wonderful gift for teachers, bible school teachers, secret pals, grandparents, you name it!!!! Hope you enjoy!

  1. 1 Boxed cake mix any flavor
  2. 1 ( 4 serving size) instant pudding mix ( not sugar free), any flavor
Place dry cake mix and dry pudding mix into a large bowl and blend well with a whisk. This will be about 4 – 4½ cups dry mix and will make 8-9 coffee cup cake mixes. Place ½ cup dry mix into a baggie. Continue making packets until all your dry mix is used.

Flavor Ideas:

  1. Lemon cake mix- lemon pudding
  2. Yellow cake mix - pistachio pudding
  3. White cake mix - white chocolate pudding
  4. Yellow cake mix- chocolate pudding
  5. Devils food cake mix- chocolate pudding
  6. Pineapple cake mix- coconut pudding
  7. Butterscotch cake mix- butterscotch pudding
Select a large coffee Mug. Check it to be sure it holds 1 ½ cups of water. That way you will be sure you have bought the size the recipe calls for. It can’t have any metallic paint on it because it will be used in the microwave. Be SURE it is microwave safe basically! Buy mugs to fit the occassion (birthday mugs, valentines day mugs, etc.)

Glaze mix

  1. 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  2. 1 ½ tsp dry flavoring ( such as powdered lemonade mix, powdered orange breakfast drink mix, cocoa powder)
  3. Vanilla powder sold by coffee flavorings
Select the flavoring appropriate to the cake you are making. For the pineapple coconut cake include flaked coconut in a separate bag with instructions to sprinkle it over the frosted cake. Place the glaze mix ingredients into a baggie. Label this bag “glaze mix”.
Place one baggie cake mix and one baggie glaze mix in each coffee cup.
Now attach the following baking instructions to each coffee cup.
Bake a cake in a coffee cup
Generously spray inside of coffee cup with cooking spray. Empty contents of large packet into cup. Add 1 egg white, 1 tbsp oil, 1 tbsp water to dry mix. Mix 15 seconds, carefully mixing in all the dry mix. Microwave on full power 2 minutes.( you may not get satisfactory results in a low wattage small microwave). While cake is cooking, place ingredients from “Glaze Mix” into a very small container and add 1½ tsp water. Mix well. When cake is done, pour glaze over cake in cup. Enjoy while warm.
