Malapa's Challengehas been not taking the NewGrounds Portal by storm now for several months now, there are a several questions that I have received many times over. I decided that a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page would be easier for players than to have to e-mail me and wait for a response. Before anything, read the in game instructions. They can be read from the pull out menu at the beginning of the game, or they can be viewed from the main menu in the walkabout. On the walkabout, press the (m) key to view the main menu- you can check your stats, use some psychic powers, read the bestiary, view a stage map, and access Zeus's Quest.

Note: The pictures below are big hints.

Stage 1: I can't get past the first corridor.

The (space bar) is used to examine things or talk to people. When you come across something out of the ordinary, press (space bar) to check it out.

Stage 2: I've been in both dungeon cells, but where do I go next?

Make sure that you found the stepped on the button in the second cell. Press the (m) key to open the main menu, then check the stage map. The map will show you the rooms in the stage and the flashing symbol will show you your current location. Check the map for any new corridors that have opened.

Stage 3: I can only get into one dungeon cell, how do I get into the others?

The cells in this stage are larger than they appear to be.

Stage 7: I am fighting Hel, how do I do damage to her?

In the first round of the battle, you can't damage Hel. The only way to get the battle to proceed is to piss her off. If you are at level 25, use Blade 2 a few times to get a reserve going, then about 10 normal attacks will get her annoyed enough to move the story along. (If you aren't at level 25, how the hell did you get through the game?) Once Hel gets annoyed, there will be a cinema, (if you have them activated) then the real fun will begin. And whatever you do, if you gained the hidden Anger Power, do not use it on Hel.

Other questions:

I'm having trouble with my password, what the hell?

Make absolutely sure that you have copied the password down perfectly- being sure not to confuse capital and lower case letters. (Every problem password that has been e-mailed to me has been the result of confused letters.) If you are using Netscape 6 to play the game, you have to click each password space and then type in it, you cannot tab between them.

I'm using the Flash standalone player, why did (blank) happen?

For some reason, there are innumerable problems with the game in the Flash standalone player. These problems do not happen when played in a browser. I strongly recommend that you do not use the standalone player.

How do find Zeus or the hidden boss?

On the last stage of the game, if you go straight up from the point of entry to the stage you will find Hel, the final boss. Take the opportunity to explore the rest of the stage, you will find many interesting things there.
