NEWS ABOUT MY BABY

As I am sure you all know, it has been rather difficult to gather any news about the beautiful, talented and perfect MARIAH. SONY music has not updated Mariah's "OFFICIAL" page since Butterfly was released (September 16, 1997). Also, for the FIRST time in about five years, Mariah SONY did not film a television special in order to promote Mariah's latest album and SONY has not been publicising Mariah and her videos nearly as much as it used to. (NOTICE A TREND??? SONY IS NO LONGER DOING ANYTHING!!!).

WHAT WOULD BE THE REASON FOR THIS???

Well, although both Mariah and Tommy Mottola have stated many times that they are still close friends, despite the divorce, it seems as though Tommy (he's the CEO of SONY Music-in case u didn't know) is not assisting Mariah in any way and he obviously doesn't want her to be successful. WHY??? Because Tommy thinks that he's proving that Mariah can not be successful without his power, influence and money. As we all know, TOMMY IS WRONG!!! Even without the complete support of SONY music, Butterfly managed to end up being the FOURTH LARGEST SELLING ALBUM OF 1997!!! So that goes to show, that Mariah will continue to amaze us all with her incredible voice WITH OR WITHOUT SONY!!!

Unfourtunately what this does mean is that fans will hear less about Mariah and we'll have to remain "in the dark" quite often. BUT IT'S WORTH IT. Here's what little news I do have:

MARIAH AND DEREK JETER

Ever since Mariah's seperation from LOSER husband, Tommy Mottola, it has been rumoured that she dated everyone from a member of 98 degrees, to Puff Daddy, to Old Dirty Bastard. The TRUTH is that the only boyfriend that Mariah has had since she was released from prison (oops, i mean seperated from Tommy) has been New York Yankee's Shortstop, Derek Jeter. As the media reported, and Mariah admited, her and Derek started out as friends, but soon developed a romantic intrest in one another. Apparently Mariah was banned from watching her honey play at Yankee Stadium because she was too much of a distraction for Jeter, and he constantly struck out. However, this did not stop her. Mariah remained liyal to Derek, sometimes even following her to away games in order to watch him play. ( SHE WAS IN THE SKYDOME HOTEL ONE NIGHT WATCHING HIM PLAY AND I HAD NO IDEA SHE WAS IN TORONTO!!!). Sadly (for the Bastard, not for me) because of the media's pressure on the relationship, Mariah and Derek have split up claiming to be "less involved in the relationship than anyone else". I have one comment MARIAH U WERE MEANT 4 ME, NOT HIM!!!

MARIAH'S FILM CAREER

Well, as you may or may not know, Mariah has finally made some progress in her goal to acheive a successful film career. Starting in May/June of 1998, Mariah will be filming a comedy/action movie called Double O Soul which is the story of a detective (kind of like James Bond) who is in charge of international crimes. This detective, however, is similar to the cartoon "Inspector Gadget" so he is extremely clumsy and does not know how to use his devices. Mariah is set to be playing the detectives high classed girlfriend. Whether Mariah will be singing or not in the film has not yet been decided.

After the completion of Double O Soul, Mariah will begin production on the long awaited film, ALL THAT GLITTERS . This movie is about a young girl who struggles through many difficulties in life to finally make it as a musical superstar. Sound like a biography of Mariah's life??? Well, although it is almost the identical story of Mariah's life, she has said many times "It is NOT the story of MY LIFE." I guess we'll just have to wait and see. In addition to starring in this DISNEY film, Mariah will also be producing the film and providing the soundtrack.

While we do wish Mariah all the luck on her film career, I would personally like to ask one thing, Mariah, PLEASE DONT DO ANY LOVE SCENES. I CAN'T STAND TO SEE YOU WITH ANOTHER MAN, KNOWING YOU WERE MEANT FOR ME.
