My interest in musclecars has been since about 1980, when I got my first car.....this white 1966 Chevrolet Impala. I was 16. It had a big block 396, and a turbo 400. As many of you know, these kinds of cars are just "fun" to drive. At the time, I think I was just too young to appreciate how much fun they really are. A couple years later I left home to go overseas in the military, and my parents sold it. At the time, it seemed like no big loss. 15 years later, I kick myself in the butt for ever getting rid of it. I vowed to myself that someday I will have another one of those "fun" cars to drive. That day finally arrived in Feb.'97.
On Feb.28,1997 I brought home this '67 Chevelle. I liked the look of my old Impala, but I always wanted a '67 Chevelle. You may notice some similarities in the pics below. The Chevelle doesn't have near the horsepower (yet) that the Impala did. It has a straight 6 and a 2 speed powerglide. It's still fun to drive, and I plan on modifying the powerplant in it someday, since half the fun is having all those ponies available under the hood.
I got quite a reception from my co-workers when they saw it. Evidence is below when I was presented with the "bannana". I didnt really like the color when i got it, but after I saw it among similar types of hot rods, it became clear to me that this car is going to stay yellow.
