It was a late night. I had drifted off to sleep probably past 3am or so. I know for the lot of you who know me, you're probably saying, "So what?!" But lately, I've been keeping semi-regular hours… not quite nine to five, of course, but closer to what most humans practice anyway. I suppose to my credit, I was getting awfully sleepy and tired by about 1am. I just stayed up to do some things on my home computer… well that I and simply had to finish watching Stark Raving Mad, which I had taped earlier.

Of course, I simply could not be bothered to do my bills. They sit neatly on a pile on my desk… mocking me. Yep, I can almost hear my phone bill giggling and pointing its finger at me, whispering among its buddies. Okay, maybe I'm imagining things. I have this nasty habit of putting those off. Not to the point of disconnection or anything like that, but to the point where I occasionally make double payments. Yeah, I know… I'm a slacker!

I'm supposed to be having lunch with Sarah today, technically a postponement from Tuesday. I sent her mail when I got to work, in the morning. [Gasp!] She said she would be dropping by about noon, but she then called and told me that she's running a little late. I told her to not stress out about getting here at a particular time, and to just show up when she's done. I figured, I waited for a few days; a few more minutes won't kill me. Of course, I'm saying this while watching the second hand sweep steadily, counting every agonizing minute. Okay, not true. Like I said, I'm patient.

Time passes. Brenda stops by and takes a look at Carla, the palm tree, that I put up just a couple of days before. She is incredibly amused and goes on to mention how much her kids would love it. Someone else stops by my office to talk about the particular implementation details of something I'm working on. So we chat about it a bit, we talk about re-mapping this, and this and that should work. And I think that we got most of the things worked out. Cool. Brenda stops by again and suggests that I should rent out Carla, the palm tree. Somehow, I didn't think she'd be that popular.

Uhmm... where is Sarah? Did I say I was patient? [Ha!]

As I'm turned to my computer doing work, I hear a voice from the staircase, which is next to my office… "Frank, let's go! I'm hungry!" It was Sarah as she was coming up the stairs. Cool. Time for lunch! She does a double take when she sees Carla. She too seems amused. I hand her a bag with a couple of things that I picked up in Florida, and an Origami Blue Dragon, because well, you know…

I drove. We decided to go to I Love Sushi. When we got there, we saw that there was a line to get in, so we decided to go elsewhere. She suggested a place that I had not been to, so I just asked her to point the way. Well, we didn't make it to where we had planned, but that's only because she suggested getting Dim Sum at Dragon Boat as we were passing by.

So we had lunch. She was the one who ordered the Dim Sum, since I'm a bad Chinese person and don't know how to order it. It's a funny story really… I normally go to Dim Sum with Chinese folks, and they order the food and I happen to know the Chinese names for the dishes, but I can't read Chinese. So when I look at a number of Dim Sum dishes, I wonder to myself… "Is this English description this Chinese dish?"

So we chatted about many things during lunch. Again, I won't go into the details of our conversation. Suffice it to say that she's charming, witty, and intelligent. Oh, and beautiful.

That was lunch.

I finally got around to listening one of the CD's that I got a few weeks ago. I know that sounds really stupid, but I had gotten it shortly before I left for vacation and I've been out for two weeks. The CD in question is Tributized - A Tribute to Def Leppard, a collection of Def Leppard tunes done by other bands. Having been such a Def Leppard fan in high school, I figured I would find it interesting. I plop it into my CD player at work and Let It Go, incidentally the name of the first track.

The CD certainly is interesting. I'm not sure whether the bands were trying to better the original renditions of the songs, or simply trying to add their individual flavor. Sorry, but I can't help but to expect Joe Elliot's voice and the tempo and riffs from the original tunes. There were eleven songs on the CD and only two of them were post Pyromania, which I can certainly agree with since I feel that the band had sold out at that point.

You know what? I miss those songs. I found myself wanting to listen to High N' Dry and maybe wanting to relive part of high school, which I can't fully understand, since high school was such a bloody nightmare. Of course, the CD is sitting neatly on a rack at home. [Sigh]
