Do I have to replace my shoes? While I was putting on my running shoes today, it occured to me that I would eventually have to replace them. [Well… Duh!] I just didn't know when. Logic would dictate that it is not so much of a question about how long I've been wearing them as much as how much I've been using them. So I try to figure how much distance I've run with them…

I run three times a week; I don't run on kickboxing days. At this point, I average over seven miles a week, or in other words, I average over a mile a day. So figuring that I have been running since May, this means that I've been running somewhere between 250 to 300 days. This translates to 250-300 miles.

Two hundred and fifty miles?! Really?!

I know this sounds like small potatoes compared to people that run a marathon (twenty-six miles), but you're getting this from someone who had never run a full mile until a year ago. I still don't know how many miles the typical running shoe will last, but at least I now have an idea of how much I've run.

Incidentally, I went for a thirty minute run today. I was maintaining 5.5 miles per hour for the entire run without passing my target heart rate, well excluding warm up and cool down. I checked the milage after the run and it read 2.507 miles. [Woo Hoo!!] It is the first time I've ever been able to average more than 5.0 miles per hour. I know that I should be focusing on my target heart rate instead of the milage, which I do, but it is nice to know that my level of fitness is increasing.

I did my stretching exercises immediately after my run and went on to do my free weights.

I went to Circuit City to get the DVD player that Len told me about on Friday. They didn't have it in stock, but I put a special order in for it. Who am I to complain about a DVD player for $180? So now I've been thrusted into the realm of digital video. So what do I do with the 100's of video tapes I have?

I did end up getting another DVD, I picked up She's All That. I have only one other, which is There's Something About Mary….

Len and I have dinner tonight like we do most Sundays. We talk about what we had been up to lately. Well, since Friday anyway. We're great friends because we have respect for each other and yet have such vastly different outlooks on life. It's always great to listen to what he has to say.
