I got a call from Pam today; we had made tentative
plans to see Fantasia 2000 tonight and I asked her to get the
tickets. We had talked about it for months, since January. We kept
putting it off week after week. I suppose that we're both procrastinators.
This is the final weekend when it is going to be showing here in Seattle,
so if we were going to see it, it would have to be this weekend. As it
turns out there weren't any tickets available for tonight or tomorrow; as a
matter of fact, there was only one showing left, the very last one 10:30pm
on Sunday night. We got tickets.
It was a typically busy day at work. There are always random fires at work, but it seemed like today things were stacking up. It wouldn't have been all that bad if I hadn't gone off an ran a few errands during the middle of the day. First, I helped Dugan pick up his car from the shop; to do this I had to recruit Christian. Yes, I realize how this logic eludes you. You see Dugan is still learning how to drive his car, and thus he should not be driving it back during the middle of the day alone. So it wasn't as simple as dropping him off at the shop; someone had to help him drive it back. Christian dropped us off and I drove Dugan's car back. Second, I went to Toys-R-Us with Jim. Okay, technically, Jim went there. I went to CompUSA, which is next to Toys-R-Us. I had to get a network card for Pam, since she signed up for DSL and would hopefully be getting it soon. I also had to get some other supplies for this weekend with Pam, but that's another story. With all the little things that I still had to do at work, I was running late to meet up with Pam. I had originally planned to arrive about 7:30-8pm, but I wasn't able to get there until shortly past 9pm. Am I neglecting my girlfriend? I did bring her the little mini-piggy banks that I got for her a couple of days ago. She seemed both touched and amused. I'm glad. Now she has his and her personalized piggy banks. What else can you ask for? We decided to go to Peso's for dinner; it is a good Mexican restaurant and bar. Since this is Seattle and thus there is no parking available. We walked down to Peso's, which is just a handful of blocks away. Pam thought it was cold and politely suggested that I should get something more (other than my t-shirt) to wear. I grabbed a sweatshirt out of my car. I looked so college. The bar section seemed full, to the point where there was a line of people outside waiting to get in. Fortunately, they did have immediate seating for the restaurant. I was starving. Pam seemed a little disappointed that we were seated at a small table where we had to sit across from each other. I had the Surf and Turf, which was good. The prawns were probably a little spicier than I would like. Pam had the Chicken Fajitas, which seemed pretty good. We chatted about a number of things, including making dinner plans with my houseguest, Jenna next week. During dinner, I started giving her a foot massage, which she thought was very sweet. She just looked a bit tired, so I wanted to make her feel better. We shared the dessert. It was a chocolate soufflé à la mode. It was very good, particularly since it was hot and the ice cream was cold. It was a nice contrast. We both wanted the custard as our first choice and as luck would have it they were sold out of it. Life mocks me. Pam wanted to rent Boys Don't Cry, so we walked to the Blockbuster video. I wasn't really interested in seeing it, but I wasn't going to stop her from renting it. We went back to her place shortly after and went to sleep shortly after. I think we were both pretty tired. April 28, 2000 |
