I spent most of the night tracking down the bugs, and I still wasn't finished. I knew one of them wasn't mine, but at this point, this wasn't good enough. At this stage of the product, it is not simply a matter of knowing and even proving that it is not your issue, you have to be able to narrow it down to precisely whose problem it is.

In many respects, investigating a bug is fun. Think of yourself as a detective. All the information is right there in front of you. All you have to do is know how to read it an interpret it. In many ways, investigating a bug is a bit of an art. You have to know which leads to follow when others turn cold. Often times, you get too much information, and the skill lies within knowing precisely what to look for… or maybe a combination of things that don't make sense once combined. There was something that should have noticed about this bug when it first came across… the first hint that something had gone wrong. One of the numbers in the bug report was an odd instead of even.

Yeah, I know, many of you will say that it's fairly obvious, but it would be the equivalent of tracking someone's trail based upon the receipts they have from McDonald's. I can't quite remember if the receipts have addresses, but I know that they have phone numbers. I was just combing through the numbers trying to triangulate where things had gone wrong, and this little tidbit of information came out and bit me.

From there I was able to find a number of potential cultprits. I put together a little tool that explicitly points out the problem, and updated the bug report. I listed specific instructions on precisely how and why this is a problem and precisely who is to blame. I would've sent this information in e-mail as well, but the e-mail system seemed to be down for the moment. So finally, one bug is off my hands. It was about 5:30am; I was running on fumes. I went home.

I awoke in the afternoon. I got out of bed and got my workout clothes on. My body was pretty stiff and I was still tired. The plan was to do a run and weights, but my body simply wasn't cooperating. I skipped the weights. I felt like a slug.

After my shower, I searched through the scores only to find that the Braves had lost two of three games from the weekend series against the Phillies. Bummer. It was a bad baseball weekend. What does that mean, "Phillie"? Not that I would typically complain about what a team chooses to name themselves, but "Phillies"?

I called Len because it's Sunday, and we all know what that means… It's Sunday Dinner with Len™. He would be coming by in a few minutes and I was to finish getting dressed. Naturally, we still had not decided where we would be going for dinner. It's part of the tradition. He always drives though, it is because he gets motion sickness when I drive, particularly when I drive with my normal tailgating ways. As I open the car door to get in, he has a newspaper section sitting on the passenger seat. Len does this on occasion when he thinks I may find the article interesting. The title of the article?
"They're hot, they're sexy… they're Asian men"
I cannot make this up. Seriously. Yes, it immediately brought a smile to my face. I skimmed through the first paragraph, and then decided to put it away to read when I got home. As for dinner, today we would be going to Shamiana. Yes, I understand that I went only a few days before, but I still had the coupon that Len has made me carry for the last few weeks and I would be negligent to not suggest Shamiana everytime we have dinner together. He finally submitted. [Ha!]

Dinner was exceptional as it always is at Shamiana. Naturally, I had the Major Grey chicken curry and the coconut ice cream pie. Len had some vegetarian dish. I suppose in an effort to eat more healthily, he has been opting to have vegetarian entrées. I tried this a number of years ago. I had managed to stay away from meat for a full month, which was my original plan. Why? Just because I wanted to know if I could do it. I had tried doing this when I was a kid and found that I wouldn't make it through the first day. I just had to prove it to myself.

We departed shortly after dinner and after that it was kind of a quiet night with just me and Magic, who seems to be in a bit of a better mood lately, the gnawing at my ankle non-withstanding.
