Tonight I had plans to get dinner with Nancy. We had talked about it last week and made plans for today. I did call her to confirm and to remind her (her suggestion). As it turns out, she would not be able to make it. It wasn't a big deal; we simply rescheduled for next week.

I was thinking about going to CompUSA with Jim. It must've been around 7pm when I asked if he wanted to go. I had found out today about a new computer game, Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K.2. I've always been a fan of Heavy Metal the movie and the magazine, so I figured that I should buy the game.

I managed to twist Jim's arm until he agreed to go. It wasn't very tough. We wandered around the store for a while. I had recently recommended a digital camera to my sister, the Canon PowerShot S10. I did it based on the numbers are reviews but ironically had not physically seen one. They didn't have one in stock, but did have something similar. So I got an idea of how small this camera was. This is a tiny camera. It wouldn't be any problem to take it wherever you go.

I did end up buying the game… plus a new case for my pocket PC. I'm such an accessory slut. It's tragic!

Having my dinner plans cancelled also gave me a chance to go to the grocery store, which I needed to do desperately. I was running desparately low on cat litter. I know that this probably doesn't matter much to many of you, but it matters to me. I had made a list of the things I needed while I was at work, so I could get through the store quickly. I normally get some things before I run out, like toothpaste and shampoo, I like to have spares.

The concept is really very simple. Know what you need to get. Get it. Walk out of the store. To this day I cannot comprehend how people manage to spend hours in a grocery store. It just lacks good planning. It took me a total of twenty minutes to get through the store, from the moment I stepped in to the moment I stepped out, and this included a ten minute stint getting through the register. It would appear that our cashier had the particularly perplexing task of returning an item and thus spent several minutes trying to persuade the cash register to cooperate.

I moved to the next line. I may not have gotten out any sooner, but I definitely felt much better.

I picked up some chicken at KFC. I did it tonight because I know that Pam doesn't like it. Okay, to be fair she hasn't actually told me that she dislikes it, the only comment she has ever made was, "…but it's so greasy." You know what? I like KFC.

It was a couple of days ago when we had the discussion about chicken. I happen to prefer dark meat chicken. In fact, when I order chicken, given a choice I would order it "all dark". Yes, I understand that white meat chicken is much better for you, it has considerably less fat. It is also very dry. I shouldn't need a drink in hand so that I could wash down the chicken. I suppose that I approach this as I approach fat-free mayonnaise. Why have something you don't like? It makes more sense to enjoy the things you like, but just do it less frequently.

So I went home with my KFC take out and enjoyed my chicken.
