About
the Band
The Rover started out as Jason and I getting together
a few times on the weekends. Soon after that, Adam T. was brought
into the picture as a vocalist and keyboard player. Due to the lack
of keyboard equipment he became the lead vocalist. Much time went
by without a bass player. It became clear to us that we would need
a bassist to add the missing element to our sound. After some time
experimenting and searching, we began talking with Adam D. Drobotij
joined us the day of our first show at the South Hills Music Fest.
This is where the band is at this day.
As for the name, we started out as what was basically a Led Zeppelin cover
band. Since many cover bands use song or album titles as their names,
we jokingly decided to take the name The Rover, after the Zeppelin song
on Physical Graffiti, knowing that it was only temporary. After a
few shows, we still had no ideas, and the name just kind of stuck with
us.
The Rover, influenced by such bands as Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Jimi
Hendrix Experience, Rush, and Aerosmith, blends a mixture of blues, funk,
and rock to produce a unique sound. Covers of classic rock songs
mixed with our own original creations combine in a potent live show.
